The 5881 is a Russian equivalent of a 6L6gc. While not exactly the same tube it's close enough you can pop it in, bias and go with out changing any thing in the amp. Look at the chart i posted and you can see the changes.

But a bias check will also cost. And i know me i wont settle for 5881. I'm gonna want EL34's
Thanks for the chart. I must leave it to a tech for a bias adjust. I'm gonna have to think about it. All these 900s that didn't come with EL34 is a problem.

Dude, man seriously, the 6l6gc is not a slug tube by any means. Get to use an amp that's properly serviced and set up and they are heavenly.

There is one 6100 LM in a nearby town right now. It looks to be in splendid condition. But i haven´t got the money at the moment. That really is a shame.
Where is the clips you should do when visiting Sigi Anitoli?

I have a 1992 blue 6101 (not LE) and a 1993 black 6101 and, trust me, they're not different amps. If you were standing right in front of a blue one and there was a black one at a slight angle, they'd sound the same. The black has just a little bit more edge. But I don't care which one I take out with me.

I think there is way too much fantasy regarding the tone differences between EL34's and 6L6GC's. My 6L6 equiped LM does not sound like a Fender, it's all Marshall. Fender's sound like Fender's because of the circuit design.

PS, if one ties the suppressor grid of an EL34 to the bias supply removing the ground connection, you can improve the efficiency of that tube 10 fold.......
