Wow, that's great. Its the one I'd choose. Its got the full package, and sounds fantastic. I just hope my DSL1 sounds as good at a lower db level when it finally arrives, other wise I too will get the 40!
'When I Don't Have Anything Interesting to Play, I just Play Fast' But then who wants to hear 64 bars full of 32nd-notes except the douche-bag blowing them from the stage.
Im also very curious about what you think! Im thinking about getting the combo. Its great that it has an effects loop which is a must for me. I wish it has a direct out like the JMD/JVM for recording purposes but its not a deal killer.
I just recieved the marshall DSL40c the amp seems well made ,,,but "as is"
it sounded shrill and bad to put it nicely. Put a set of Tung-sol tubes and vintage 30 and what a difference!!! Now it sounds like a Marshall should !! It has no effects bypass on the pedal so if using a rack effect it must have a bypass for it. My main amp is a TLS100 extremly modified, too many to list but, is a wonderful amp used with
2 12 cabinet with vintage 30's
I just used one Tung-sol in position 1 and it made a huge difference. The amp sounds more mellow with notes more nicely distinct and compressed. I wonder how much better it will sound if I replace the other three with Tung-sols as well.
Its funny that this worked out this way. In the past I had a very warm and bit flubby amp, A Vox AC4. I replaced its power tube with a Sovtek, known for its brightness, and the amp came to life. In the case of the Marshall it was the other way round.
V30s always tend to add a bit more focus to the sound I find, the sound gets more articulate in the upper mids and highs, and tightens the lower end on most amps
