Anyone else noticing a long wait on backordered DSL40C's

Postby Duffy » 10 Jun 2013, 04:17

Anyone else noticing a long wait on backordered DSL40C's?

I have one on order and don't mind waiting. I've been waiting about six weeks so far. I see all the big internet places keep pushing back the "expected" delivery dates.

Supposedly there is a big demand for these amps, which is a good thing, but the backorder wait times are long, evidently.

Is this affecting anyone else?

That's what I was thinking too.

You would think that a solid management production plan would immediately call for stepping up production to meet the demand. Production shortages can only result in capturing a lot less of a profit on a potentially very lucrative product. I realize that they have to keep quality control up, but I would think that they have the capability of securing the components and maintaining excellent quality control.

I think Marshall keeps a lot of corporate decisions, etc., well out of the light and unavailable to anyone outside their insulated organization.

I know that people are purchasing other amps because they can't get the DSL40C's that they really want. They just don't want to wait around, for lots of reasons. So they definitely are losing out on sales.

The situation just doesn't seem to add up or make a lot of sense.

I think the REAL problem is that they didn't anticipate exactly HOW popular this amp would be.
I don't think anyone could really, and from what I see in other places it is quickly becoming not only an affordable beginner amp, but a nice platform for experienced modders as well. Not to mention those who need a great amp to gig with.

The only thing I can see that might compete with it is the SL-5, but that is really a different beast. Those are starting to show up all over now, so I don't think it will be too long before the DSL40c is back in large numbers again.

They wouldn't last long in the National Spelling Bee either.

I didn't really notice it until you posted your few posts on this, but even CL has DLS40s on backorder...

Usually, the market is flooded w/ them, but I haven't seen any lately.
