Add FX loop to DSL15

Postby chrisjtm1 » 05 Apr 2014, 02:47

I gather some amps are fairly straight forward to add an effects loop whereas others can need a lot more work. Does anyone know how difficult it would be to add a serial loop to a DSL15?

I'd get an amp tech guy to do it, but I like the idea of buying a DSL15 for taking to practice with it being so portable. I want to plug my multi fx into the loop for modelling to cover certain songs and from what I've read the clean head room isn't so good on the DSL15 as standard.

Should not be a hard mod to make. Just not sure your going to get the results you want. Most low watt amps do not have a loop because pedals sound fine in front. Maybe a better option is to get a 50 watt MG and use its loop. Solid State amps work well with modeling and multi FX.

If your stuck with tube then pay a little extra and get the DSL40. It already has the loop.

I like the MG for what it is, had a few in the past and a valvestate but I'm after a nice small valve amp to take to practice rather than a solid state. My current Laney works great with the HD500 through the loop but I'm after something more portable.

A DSL15 head looks a perfect size and sounds decent enough, but has not got a loop. I'd rather not buy one and then find out it's a pig to fit, but unlike most other amps I can't find details of anyone who has done this yet. Also wondering about a Blackstar studio but I much prefer the sound of the DSL.

I gig with a Blackstar HT-20 and the sound does take some getting used to. It is a solid little amp, though.
