One out and one in ....

Postby gtrman » 23 May 2013, 22:50

I have been doing some housecleaning and sold a bunch of stuff .. amps .. speakers.. pedals ... so far almost $7000 worth...
Unfortunatly I need a lot of the cash for house renovations.

But one of the things I have decided to do is sell my AFD100 ... and buy the SL-5 instead.
I use my 2555 in one band and the 6100 in another so the AFD has mostly been used at home... and as I have other "home" amps the AFD has mostly been sitting there.
But every time I fire it up I really enjoy it alot. So as I will only been using it at home its a lot more practical with the combo version.
I also have been using the 50th 1 watters at home - combos - but I feel the SL-5 will give me alot more .. as it has a better speaker .. 2 channels .. and reverb is really cool when you are just playing at home by yourself.
So I sold the AFD today .. and also ordered the SL-5 at the same time ... it's sold out so I wont be getting it until July though ... a bummer but I have 3 of the 1watters so i'll manage :-)

That's cool you have ordered the SL-5, its a fantastic sounding amp, so well dialed in with the V30 and cab size tuned to perfection.
Just a shame you had to sell the AFD, I hope you don't regret that.

In many ways I think the SL5 sounds better anyways. Of course you would have to mic it up.

I don't need another 5 watt but I guess I am just going to have to grab an SL-5. All these positive comments on here are starting to make me feel a little gassy.

Closed or open back? Curious as to how accessible the internal speaker is for tapping into my Radial DI without an ext cab. Slow day at work today so I spent some time listening to the online videos. The GAS is building.

The internal speaker BTW plugs into the back of the amp and can simply be unplugged to use other cabs. The amp is Closed back, I suppose 5 watts doesn't produce too much heat.
So you should be OK Cousin. The speaker cable comes out of the back of the amp and plugs into the 16ohm socket I think. The cable is short though of course.

Cool Al. Sorta like the last two 1 watts. That makes it easier with a 1/4 cable off the speaker. Thanks man.

I will when I finally get the amp.
I have a 4x12 greenback cab (1960AX) and a 2x12 with V30's (1936V) at home.
It will be interesting to see how much volume the amp delivers on the 4x12.
