Sl5 switching problem

Postby coldsouthernwind » 24 Aug 2013, 07:34

Hei!,
I got it yesterday. Amazing sound. I found that there's a pop switching from the clean channel to overdrive channel, using the switch or the footswitch. The pop is only if I am playing while switching. If I switch without playing no problem.
Anybody have same problems?

It can happen, does not mean anything is wrong with your amp.

Thank you for the answer. Here's a clear vision of the problem.

Switching from clean channel to overdrive channel at 7s and 18s (switching keeping strings playing) It is normal?

You can try cleanibg the switch and all of the contacts with Deoxit D5 and see if that clears it up.

Well, I'll return the amp to the dealer. The strange thing was that pops only if I switch while the strings were playing. If I switch without playing there was no pop.

Hi new guy here. I bought a second hand sl5 from long and mcquade, and it had the pop. I went back to the store with the amp and compared it to a new one, and no pop at all on the new one. mines gone for repair work and the new one is sitting in front of me. i' m pretty sure it sounds better too.

My SL-5 does this but on mine it's when I switch from overdrive to clean channel. Same as you though, only happens if I'm playing - strings muted it doesn't happen. I can live with it - I just thought it was a little quirk of the amp!

hello
i've got the same problem
when i want to switch between the clean channel to the 2d channel : pop, a noise
but overdrive channel > clean : no pop !!

and the noise/pop is always here when i play with the strings
if i mute the strings: no problem

someone here said with a new one there would be no problem?

how many persons have the pop problem switching? channels 1 to ch 2?

with the footswitch or not : problem exists
