Hello I am new in this forum,
does anyone know if we can use a MetroAmp fx loop kit on SL-5?

It should work - the metro is a standard effects loop with a few improvements. Make sure you get a qualified amp tech to do it - and ask them if they know of the metro first. Second - any tampering with the amp voids the warrantee - this straight from Marshall. Just FYI.

Thank you to the OP for posting this. If my SL5 turns out to be a keeper I will definitely be performing this mod. From what I can tell right now, the lack of an effects loop is the only major shortcoming for this amp.

even if it's a Marshall certified tech/shop doing the work? :dunno

Well now that the schematic was found (thanks!) I sent it to my shop and this is what the said...

Simplest solution which I think will work is to break the circuit before the power amp and add a send jack and a shorting return jack. The send level will be set by the amps volume controls. Return level will be set by insert effects output level. Cost would be about $60.

Now this doesn't mean much to me but anyone here with more experience want to shed some light?

Thanks!!!

My first post here. Getting my SL-5 later this week. I was wondering if the OP can give more info about his amp tech to add the fx loop. I'm in SoCal as well. It would be good to have someone who knows the amp already.

Thanks!

Diego

What happened to the photo with the FX loop? How did it work out? I'm looking to put one in this week. Do you have any clips? Did it do anything negative to the tone?

Thanks

Oh, I don't know... probably lost it when I added a bunch of pics to my account. No negative effect on tone. If there is nothing plugged in - the loop is bypassed.

I would be interested in possibly buying a DSL15C as a second combo to my DSL40 if I could install an effects loop inexpensively.
