What tubes and speaker are you using

I got my SL5 a few months ago . I tried a bunch of different preamp tubes and settled on a preferred series 7025 in V1 and tung sol ri in V2 and V3 and an SED EL34 for the power . I swapped out the V30 for a Celestion Creamback but I could have probably lived with the V30. The preamp swaps smoothed out the gain a bit. Not a drastic change in tone after the simple swaps and in all honesty I probably could have left it untouched and been happy but I rarely leave things untouched

I swapped the speaker for a G12C greenback and left the back off. I've tried several preamp and power amp tubes types, don't recall what I have in her now.

I fine it to be fuller sounding with the back off and the greenback. I've also switched the tube to a 6CA7 which gives a meater sound. Last night I dropped in a VHT tube converter and put in a EL844 WOW! Very responsive, really sounds like a hot rodded JCM800

Yes that's the one I use on the SL5 and the VHT Special 6 Ultra
