Operational Questions?

Postby The Ballzz » 16 Feb 2016, 06:44

Hey Folks,
This post is directed towards folks who use and/or have used any of the Silver Jubilee line, past and present. Questions surround operational use and comparisons to other more "standard" Marshall products.

From looking at the schematics for the original Jubilee's, the diodes used for "clipping" appear to only be in use in the two modes of "rhythm clip" and, I think, "lead boost." Is this the case and if so, can "standard" Marshall tones and overdrives be achieved without the "clipping" being used? In other words, can a fairly good JCM800/2203/2204 sound be achieved with these amps? I realize that the "clipping" diodes appear to have a "love it or hate it" thing going for it.

Thanks In Advance :bird

IMO no. A 2203 is a cleaner amp and does not have the distortion a Jube has. Two different sounds. I don't think the amps sound alike at all.

I do prefer the 2555 over the 800 but neither are amps that fit me.
