Yeah It was an amazing find! Forum Member Fortress had bought it brand new and kept it about 3 months and played it a little bit and did one gig with it then he sold it to me on ebay (though I didn't know he was a forum member at the time I bought it.). By the time I got the amplifier through the 2 week shipping from slow ass Canada Express Post it was 4 months old from its manufactured date. I basically tell people I bought it brand new, its got less time on it than a demo amp at Guitar center and it was well taken care of.Erikk Von Hyde wrote:Dude, you scored your VM for under a grand? Awesome. I trolled and trolled for mine but everything from eBay to private sales all came in at a $1k
Fortress just so happens to be selling another 100 watt VM he bought a month ago for the same price as he sold mine to me for.
The only reason I even considered the Vintage Modern over the Jubilee at the time was because it was brand new and from the clips I'd heard from Slash and from me playing it in the music store side by side with a DSL-100 it blew my mind at how much supirior it was to the DSL-100 and for my ears its basically Jubilee tone but with smoother KT66s instead of the ripping EL-34s. I get that same juicy tone Slash does out of his Jubilees that I've always held as the Gold Standard so all in all I have my dream amp in the VM, but eventually I will rally some cash for a Jubilee.
The Jubilees sounds great on the cleans especially with KT88 Power tubes. Of course everyone knows the EL-34 Dirty tone they have is amazing on them as well.
