How about a Silver Jubilee for the Silver Jubilee?

Postby slash438 » 21 Dec 2009, 15:51

Does anyone know why Marshall have not re-issued the (Silver) Jubilee series? Simply judging by the online popularity of these amps, I am really surprised that they have not made a comeback.

I gather that the JCM Slash signature head was based on the Jubilee range, but they're even rarer than Jubilees - I think only about 3000 are in existence.

Really curious to hear your thoughts,

David

Ceriatone makes a copy. I don't have any experience with them though.

If they do it, they will probably wait for a significant year. Maybe in 2012 when Marshall celebrates their 50th anniversary :dunno . Of course that would also be the 25th anniversary of the original.

The slash amp was a jubilee reissue. Just the graphics were different.

Think the Slash was kind of a reissue of the original. So they should sound alike.

It has always struck me as odd what comes back as a reissue and what doesn't. Of course, I don't have access to Marshall sales ledgers to confirm what were big hits originally in terms of sales, but one would infer what's hot on the used market would do well re-born.

The Silver Jubilee circuit seems to be generally held in high esteem and, as others posted, commands large dollars in the secondary market.

Forget reissuing it. I suspect a model catering to the new low wattage trend, coupled with that SJ circuit, would sell like crazy... if the tone was there.

Silver Jubilee sounds really good.

Not only were the Silver Jubilee released. After that series it was a copule of years more of production of the same models in Black case with golden front and nowhere was shown "Jubilee" but it was the same amp.

The reason for not continuing it I think it is simple; I is a commemorative series and only few units are done.

As somebody said befores you have other options to get that excat amp as Ceritone whose amps are really good.

I see where you are coming from by saying they should release a low wattage version as thats the current 'thing' at the moment.

But as the silver jubilee is such a rare amp and such an iconic one at that, if they do ever reissue it, it should be as original as original can be. No messing or anything. Just another run of the same.

Well... if they listen to me (which they should IMHO) then the JB100 (Joe Bonamassa Signature) would be very much based on the Silver Jubilee... with Power Attenuation, noisegate, programmable footswitch like the JVM... maybe a proper emulated output as well? or maybe a Palmer PDI-03 built in :whoo

And yes... if Marshall insists, I'll demo the prototype.... and put me down for a pre-order... hehe... just kidding of course... no need to insist I'll demo it any day :bgrin

I may have to have a talk with Joe about this...
