Thinking of installing my Custom Chassis into My 1974x cab?

Postby TM1 » 03 Nov 2016, 18:41

Anyone know if it would fit. I've been using my 1974x a bit lately but all the while going,"stupid, you should use the Astoria" but it means taking another cab as well as the head. So I've been thinking of putting the chassis into the combo cab. Just wondering if it's deep enough to work with the KT-66's?
Cheers!

The 1974x cab is about a 1/2" shallower than the Astoria 's cab. I owned both amps at the same time (just sold my 1974x). I never measured the two cabs but they appear to be very close in size when I sat them back to back.

Amps:
1973 Fender VIbrolux Reverb
1976 Marshall JMP 2187
2015 Marshall Astoria Classic
2023 Marshall JTM ST20C
Guitars:
1972 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe (Goldtop)
1982 Gibson “The Paul” Deluxe (Natural)
1997 Les Paul Custom ‘57 RI (Black Beauty)
2012 Fender American Standard Stratocaster (Olympic White)
2021 Gibson Les Paul Special (TV Yellow)
2022 Gibson Les Paul Tribute (Honey Burst)

The Astoria Chassis is about 1.5" wider, so won't work with the 1974x back panel... I'd like to find out if Sweetwater has any cabs w/o the speaker. I have a well broken-in Celestion Alnico Gold I prefer over the stock speaker..
