My new Ampeg bass preamp

Postby Alpeggio » 03 Feb 2018, 10:44

Hy guys, since selling the Helix I've been struggling with my bass sound.
So I finally decided to get a dedicated bass preamp/DI.
Early days setting it up, but the amount of bass in this thing is pro level.

Here's a basic mix that is also using a JCM800/1 and LP for rhythm guitars.
Both boosted with a Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal, and one also with a boss chorus, thinking of Zakk here.

See what you think.
Al.

Cool Al, those bass pre's is all you need. I either use Kemper or my Tech 21 VT Bass DI. Wish guitar stuff was a simple and cheap as Bass gear.

This recording came out good, I like the tone you put together on it. Well done!!

Thanks Surf, I always liked your deep bass lines on your tracks. If I can get close I'll be happy.

Yeah, so simple and cheap, a £200 solid state DI has no right sounding this good. Just glad it does.

Thanks Pete glad you like it.
Do you know any good bass overdrives?
All my guitar ones take away bass, and the built in Scrambler is a bit odd or harsh.

Haha, thanks T, I'm so glad you can hear the difference in the bass.
The JCM800 is great for that tight crunch tone, with no flab. Supported by a good bass, it sits well in a mix.
