Back in 2012 I had this idea of Marshall making a preamp that you could plug modules into that would represent every classic Marshall made. I actually discussed this idea with Santiago but Marshall had no interest in making rack gear at that time.
Now Synergy has made exactly what I was thinking of back then.
Basically you can buy a docking station that can accept a single module or a docking station that accepts two modules for stereo. Each module is a preamp replicating a classic amp with two channels. The modules are built by the same companies that make the amp it is duplicating. The pic below show the host preamp (front and back) with two 2 channel JCM800 modules which slide in and out.
Each Rackmount dual tube preamp module dock has
12ax7 preamp tube ensures rich harmonic performance
Friedman-designed effects loop
Fryette-designed sag control
Cabinet emulated XLR output for recording
Footswitchable channel switching
The dual docking station is $799 and the single is $499 shown below
Here you can see what the modules look like. Each module is plug and play and cost $399. Here are some of the ones available right now, many more to come.

While the video is long, it is done very well and demonstrates many of the modules very well, even Nick Bowcott does a great job in it. https://youtu.be/mIH2i4jywpo
