Postby Blues_N_Cues » 18 Sep 2015, 05:37

so I threw this down real quick.see if you can pick out the Strats & if you want list the guitars in order that I used them-
what I used-
Squier standard Strat
Washburn Maverick BT-2 (HH)
Epi LP Custom
Yamaha HSS
Austin LP w/ P90's

*Strats are 5th position,Hum guitars are in the neck position.
same amp setups for all parts-no trickery,I just titled the thread that way.lol
(I tried to keep the solos as identical as possible but I haven't played in days)

Nice track and little wing playin'.
But It's impossible to tell the difference!
I think that if you dial less gain it will be easier...
Axe Fx ii XL+
Suhr Badger 30
Marshall 1936 cab (w/V30 + Creamback G12M65)
Marshall 1960 cab (w/Greenbacks)
-----------------------------------
Xotic XSC-1
Fender Stratocaster
Ibanez RG550
Suhr Classic HSS
LTD AS-1
Charvel Pro-Mod DK24

but that would defeat the purpose of disproving that old saying- "a strat won't ever sound like a Les Paul" & a "Les Paul will never sound like a Strat". :bgrin

next,we will tackle that old phrase "tone is in the hands",
is it or is it not? :whatever
:bolt

It is possible to tell the difference, but it is very, very hard. Squier has most sparkle, Washburn sounds like (a little bit muddy?) humbucker, Epi is like humbucker but much cleaner than Washburn. At last 2 I am too confused already.

I think it proves what I noticed before buying my first guitar. I connected LP Standard and LP Studio to the same amp with the same settings. On gain there was no difference. Only on clean you could tell that those are 2 different guitar.
