1st Gig with VM 50watt

Postby wolfjam » 16 Nov 2008, 11:27

Since getting my second VM (returned a 100Watter a year ago), this was my first gig with it. Lucky for us we were playing in a large theater so I had the master on half. This isn't a pure VM tone. I ran a split signal with a Mesa F30 head. Had them in a 2 full stack configuration. Most of the tone is coming from the VM. The mesa was set for a subtle addition to the lower end and for a little smoothness. I've never run these two together and I liked the results. We mainly play small clubs though so I doubt I'll be able to do this at the same levels too often.

Some shots of the stage and the rig. The combo amp and other gear in front were for an opening

Great tone & nice performance. The whole band seems really tight.

I laughed a lot at my little dance....I'm a silly person in general anyway! Thanks for the feedback. This was a sound that I enjoyed while playing and in the vids. Kind of an unexpected surprise because I only set it up this way as almost an afterthought.

That looks like a good time.

Hey man you may want to reconsider the 100 watt VM as your drummer is one of those loud "I am going to beat the shit out of everything and fuck you" drummers. Your band pulled of that old VH tune well, in fact I don't think I have ever heard that song done from a cover band before. Thanks for posting I enjoyed it.

What caused you to return the 2466 for the 2266?

THanks for the positive feedback. I thought the 50 watter just sounded "better" to my ears and for my playing. I always liked the feel of the VM...even the 100 watt version but back then I was getting into a band that I thought might be better served by a multichannel amp... I ended up with the JVM for about a year. But, I couldn't resist the feel that both VM heads have. VOlume wise, we're all through the PA/monitored so the ability to compete isn't really an issue.
