Voodoo Child Slight Return cover

Postby Gonzo » 03 Nov 2010, 18:59

Hello fellow Marshallheads!

Here's me playing the Strat through my VM-HDR, 2x12 1936 cab, with the g12c greenbacks. Effects: crybaby, hardwire delay, hardwire od. MV was at about 3 oclock initially, but you can see me crank it up twice during the tune-it was almost wide open at the end.

Not the best performance I've had on this tune, the beginning was cut off, etc. but I loved the sound I was getting, so I thought I'd throw it up here for you guys to rip apart!

Not my real hair btw-this was a Halloween gig-we dressed as....a 80's era rock band! How inventive, eh?

Sounds really good to me, the hardwire is giving the amp a nice push, that is a good OD pedal for the VM. Remember we need to see women with big 'uns in your videos. Great playing man.

Hey thanks Steve! Very impressive amplifier indeed! I will never part with it-it is my first Marshall, and I'm glad I chose the Vintage Modern.

Oh....and I'll send the hair over right away!

hehe well I wouldn't consider myself a seasoned veteran in my playing but maybe in how many thousands of times I've heard and played the song. That not only kicked ass playing wise but you put the "tude" in atti-tude! Yeah baby! You done Jimi and Stevie proud!

Damn, you guys are making my head swell....I really appreciate all the positive feedback-usually the most response I get at a gig is some inebriated bar patron telling me "you ROCK dude" while sloshing his beer on my pedals. We've all been there, I'm sure. Actually, ya gotta love those guys, right?

Still it means alot more coming from a peer group like the people on this forum-fellow discriminating guitar slingers and lovers of fine Marshall amplification. We work hard to get our playing together, our sound, stage presence, the whole thing-it's just nice when those efforts are acknowledged, that's all.

So thanks again for all the kind words! You guys rule.

Right on bro. Yeah we all learn from each other. I sometimes forget that you really do need to put that attitude in there when performing cause that's what gets the crowd fired up. It had me fired up and that's hard to do in a video vs live!

I'd rather watch somebody put tons of attitude into a song even if he plays mediocre compared to a master shredder who stands there like a bump on a log, which I, unfortunately have been guilty of. haha

In that video, though, you had it all down. I really dug that one really fast alternate picking riff you did a couple times. Gotta learn that one!
