Marshall Gateway App

Postby surfnorthwest » 25 Jan 2016, 14:30

If you are interested in the CODE amp or even remotely intrested in learning more about it, I highly recommend downloading the app Marshall Gateway.

There is a little learning curve with all the scrolling menus, but it give you a chance to see ahead of the amp all the options and functions of the amp.

I think they did a beautiful job on this app.

Already available for Apple and Android.

I was surprised just how much you could do, and how thorough they have been with this app. It really is well done from what I've seen.

I have played around with this app on my android phone and have to agree that Marshall did great job with this. I was afraid that I would need to use a tablet, because everything would be too small and tedious on a phone, but this is not the case with Gateway. Furthermore, Gateway has changed which version of CODE I would actually buy. For my purposes I originally thought I would have to get the CODE 25 because the overall size of the amp fit my needs better. However, with Gateway, I will not need to have the amp within reach of my chair so I can get the CODE 50 (much prefer a 12" speaker) and place it out of the way and use my phone to control it! Bravo Marshall! This really helps a guy like me who is dealing with the difficulties of Multiple Sclerosis and is often confined to a chair while playing. :Thumbs

Just downloaded and played with the app a bit, very interesting.

Disappointed that the effects order does not seem like it can be changed. But that's a small complaint. Another disappointment is no 50w EL34 power amp emulation; that precludes an accurate 50W Marshall Super Lead simulation.

There is a fairly big surprise though; in the Amp menu, you can separately turn the preamp, power amp and speaker simulations on or off. This makes for terrific flexibility. For example, if you have a floor modeler like a Line 6 HD500, you can set it to Preamp mode, plug it into a Code with the preamp disabled, and use the Code's power amp and speaker emulations. Or you can disable the speaker sim in the Code and run its output to an external power amp (using the Code's headphone jack) and speaker cab. This promises significant flexibility.

What I, and many other people I suspect, want to hear, is what it sounds like recorded with the USB.

This could be half its market if it records well like this.
JTM45, YJM plexi, KK800, JTM60, JTM1, JMP1, JCM1, DSL1, JVM1. Laney Lionheart 5w, Laney Ironheart 15 studio.
