I picked up a LP copy and am going do drop some Seth Lovers in it and wondered about this "50's wiring"

What it is?
Whats the difference in tone?
How do you do it?

50's Wiring is just the way that the guitar used to be wired back in the 50's and 60's. It' extremely simple to do. You just move the capacitor from the middle lug of the tone pot to the outer lug. Here's a pic

Whats the difference in tone?

The difference between the two isn't huge but the way I find is that the volume kind of kills some treble with Modern Wiring whereas in the 50's style it keep the tone the same. The tone control also lightly affects the volume with the 50's wiring. Try them both and see what you like....I'd also recommend changing the capacitors to PIO caps or Orange Drops

The Tone and Volume controls interact a little differently in the two wiring schemes. It's very much a personal preference as to which one sounds better.

Awesome. Thanks for the excellent diagrams, pictures and descriptions. I find lowering the volume often makes things more bassy or muddy. I will be using a Vintage Modern,so I will be using the guitar volume pot. I thought about doing a treble bleed thing I saw. I will try this 50's wiring thing out first. Thanks!
