Rig Complete - JTM1, JMP1, JCM1

Postby surfnorthwest » 02 Aug 2012, 19:36

The JCM1 finally showed up today which completes this rig I have been hacking at for a few months.

So first my thoughts on the JCM1. Definitely the 800 sound but seems to have some hotrodding. I mean this thing has more damm gain then any stock 800 I have played. When I pushed it into the 100 watt slave head I was like "WOW", pure beef and potatoes. Thick as hell. I really like the boost which is suppose to be like the Jubilee.... yea I like that a lot. Set is up with the pre at about 7 and the master on 10. Set the bass on 5 mids 3 treble 4, that was a good setting for one of my guitars.

Without the boost in the amp responds more like a 800 for sure. The big difference in this one when amplified up is that it is not as bright as a 2203, that is a good thing. The eq is very responsive which is another thing I really like. A earlier post referenced a scratchy pot on these, I am not getting that at all.

With the rig complete now I can switch between the JTM1, JMP1, and JCM1 or play them in any combination together through 100 watts. I recently bought another empty 425B cabinet and loaded it with Classic Lead 80s so I am using that. I am running a TC Alter Ego delay in the loop and it sounds great. Each amp sounds great on its own and provides me with so many options, however running any two together is the cats ass, each truly compliments the other. Running all three together at a 100 watts.... never heard anything like it, nothing to bitch about at all.

Chain goes
>Guitar
>Pedalboard
>Radal JD7
>Inputs of JTM1, JMP1, JCM1
>JTM1, JMP1, JCM1 16ohm speaker outs (all set to low range) into Morley ABC footswitch
>Morley ABC box input of Granger 100 watt Slave Amp (Granger loop w/delay)
>425B w/Lead80s

Good Golly Miss Molly. :whoo

Damn all three at once??? Cat's ass, my ass... that'll blow your head clean off. That tone must be nasty!!!

I feel a demo coming on.

That radial unit looks pretty good, I followed the other thread and read about the unit

Congrats Surf and Welcome to the Club...HaHa. Your so right. You cant beat switching between or combining them. Yes, the JCM drives much earlier than the JTM and JMP but its all good. Sounds like we got about the same settings although I don't use the boost since I have a Treble Boost . These are just killer
