Re: I cured rattle in my Class 5

Well the amp got through a two hour session last night with no rattle problems so it seems this one at least was fixable.

Re: UK Class 5's rattle free?

My current one developed a slight rattle after about a week of use and it gradually got louder and problem frequencies changed with time.
Now fixed of course.

Re: I cured rattle in my Class 5

screw the warranty. I'm not afraid of this thing. I've tackled worse issues. I just opened her up. Mine must be the first "fix" by Marshall cause its got the thin foam strip between the chassis and back panel. I'm gonna take your advice and wire tie those orange cables down. Upon first inspection t...

Re: I cured rattle in my Class 5

The problem with the two units I've had seems related to the back panel vibrating. It's a very small box and I guess the speaker drives the chassis/back panel.I had tried some extra thin foam between chassis and panel with no advantage. In my case the noise was caused by contact between the cables and...

I cured rattle in my Class 5

My replacement Class 5 developed the rattle/resonance problem and was really bad on bottom E and an octave higher. The noise would cease if i placed my hand on the upper area of the back panel.Looking inside the amp, the four cables running from the transformer to the board touch the back panel just ...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

I did try removing the wire clip on my first Class 5,it made no difference. It's easy to do once the amp is removed from the cabinet. To do this you have to undo the seven screws around the edge of the back panel plus the screws on the top at either end of the control panel. BEWARE there is a risk of ...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

It seems things are now not so well with my Class 5! A week after getting a replacement I turn on the amp and there is a lot of white noise that doesn't alter as I turn the controls, whether or not any cable was plugged in.A guitar still works through the amp- but with this loud hiss in the backgroun...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

All is VERY VERY well in Class 5 land now. I took my amp along to the Frome Guitar Show after getting a message from Chris George. He asked about my experience with the amp,had a look at the serial number told me it was from the first week of manufacture and there had been a few teething troubles but...

CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Hi just joined the forum, recently bought my first Marshall for some time. I tried one Class 5 in my local shop and it was unusable. As soon as the volume and bass were turned up a horrendous rattle appeared from inside the unit mainly when playing an A chord . This was not a microphonic valve type so...
