Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

No jamming with another guitarist - no drums etc Below 5 with a strat it i possible to get a SRV type sound - after a couple of hours the amp/speaker was loosing up and sounding better and better. I was doubting this little amp myself with all the comments/video clips etc. but it is truely a good li...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

You might be correct. I have just finished a jamming session this eveing using the 'newer' class 5 and my 89' USA standard std. As the evening progressed the amp (possibly the speaker) appeared to settle in. I found that I was turning the mid & bass up and the treble down (well strats are brighter s...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

The other amp that I am comparing it to is a matamp Little Rock that was built for me 2 years ago and yes this runs through 100dB celestion 12" speaker. Granted is a 6V6 output valve but at 4 watts this is equally 'loud'. I don't want to get into the debate of watts versus sound pressure to determin...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

It is a very good amp. In my opinion its not a cheap build and the headroom is fine. It appears that a collective number of very small issues that have created a problem which I am sure that Marshall will resolve in due course. My gripe is that its tone is pleasing to my ears (I'm not deaf or have m...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your response. Isn't there any means of 'closing the box' (chassis) to irradicate the problem completely?

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Hi Auratnik, I can imaging that you are very dissapointed - but from what you are indicating this is Marshalls problem. Read the earlier threads to see the responses I had, they (Marshall) should be paying to put this right as you have bought a product in good faith that it should work properly and ...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Hi Burnsy, Yep agree - excellent forum. I think that the problem is due to the thinness of the chassis and its design (bis mistake here Marshall surely for a few extra quid this was a problem easily cured at the pre production stage). If you look at the back panel there are no screws across the top ...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

Hi Burnsy, Take the unit back and ask your dealer to replace it or sort it out for you. As per my posts, I'm on my 3rd as the first 2 rattled like crazy but my helpful dealer did resolve the problem for me (thanks again DV247). I did feel the same as you are now that it is so frustrating that it sou...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

RESOLVED!!!! many thanks to DV247 in Romford who kindly supplied me with a 3rd amp (highly recommended for their help and service). However, I've still got rattles, its not the amp through but just about everything in the house! I'm sure that it sounds sweeter each time that I use it and I am so gl...

Re: CLASS 5 BAD RATTLES

I'm on amp number two both from DV247 in Romford (super store and all very helpful). This one rattles more than the first but sounds great. I have emailed the Marshall service team but I'll ask the same question here - does this need to be returned or is there a simple mod that can be applied by a h...
