Final Decision Time - Closer!!!

Hey Guys, thanks for all the thoughts on my previous, inaugural post on here. After a lot of thought (and A/Bing with the JVM, DSL, 800, and others) I am going to pull the trigger on my first marshall - a VM head. i still have a couple of final decisions to make, however - namely, do i go with the 5...

Re: VM Speaker Question

Look at my avatar. I am not really playing out much anymore as I am too busy with work, so this is just for my house. At the present time I have both cabs plugged into the 50 watt VM. Yeah, its damn loud, but it sure is fun as hell cranking it up. I work from home so lunch time can be a deafening e...

Re: VM Speaker Question

Re: VM Speaker Question

Re: VM Speaker Question

If you are like me, you want the half stack but will probably get the combo because it's more "practical". In a couple of months, you'll wish you went for the big boy. I've made this mistake many times (but thankfully not with the VM). Save yourself some frustration and money & go for it! :Thumbs h...

Re: VM Speaker Question

so, the main tonal advantage to the cab would be bottom end? would this be true at lower volume levels, as well?

Re: VM Speaker Question

hey thanks for the confirmation guys!

any general thoughts on the combo vs. the 50w head and one cab at home? i am assuming the cab set-up would be louder(?) but also don't know if there might be even better tone with the cab compared to the combo? i've only ever had fender combo amps!

VM Speaker Question

I am very close to pulling the trigger on a VM (my first marshall, actually). I just got my first LP over the holidays and it is demanding a marshall amp!!:) I understand that the cab uses 'specially desgined' greenbacks. are the speakers found in the combo the same? if not, in what ways would they ...
