Clean channel hum?

My MA has recently began to hum/hiss pretty loud on the clean channel, drive channel is dead silent. Before this started clean channel was really silent, no hum at all. Could this be preamp tubes, I changed them to Tung-sols like 3 months ago? And which one is for clean channel, or are they all in t...

Re: Marshall MA settings

Wow, pretty high bass settings, I cut bass on my eq pedal and still I have to set it like at 9-10 o clock max, otherwise it sounds too boomy at high levels. Maybe it's dirty fingers humbuckers, or my personal taste, dunno. I also found out that gain sounds better to me when preamp is boosted by a pe...

Re: Best speaker cab for MA50H

I really like when people comment on my MA in a good way and not in a "oh it's made in Vietnam" way, just listen the sound. I have finally made my setup for gigs and home, SD-1 in effects loop and GE-7 Eq pedal in front boosting the preamp and I can only imagine biggest dorks in Marshall community t...

Re: Solo boost

Yes, totally, in effects loop it will give you more volume, set it as clean boost and off you go. :rocker

Re: Quality

We went wild at rehearsal this weekend, put some ear protection on and tried to play loudest we can and play black sabbath, just because we can lol. My MA was at 8.5, and it was loud as jumbo jet. Drummer was hitting cymballs like maniac, bass was moving furniture around, and my MA with SD-1 in effect...

Re: Dumble amps...hype or pay $48,000

Wow, buying Dumble looks more like buying nuclear weapons, I think this guy just found out how to make huge money from hype, nothing more. After all its just a box with some wires, electronics and tubes, no magical stuff and yet he made it worth 48.000$, good job HOWARD, ouch, did I just said HOWARD...

Re: Quality

EQ pedal in effects loop makes wonders, it sure did change my MA boost channel to another level.
So, my advice for ultimate MA sound...clean bost + EQ in effects loop, I tried this at store where I bought MA and guys were really impressed.

Re: Solo boost

Ok, I got the Boss GE-7 EQ pedal, and it works wonders in the loop. I am selling my distortion pedals, all I need now is super overdrive set for clean boost all the way up and Ge-7 after it for cleaning up the tone and it just screams, I was playing for 2 hours, and can't stop, the tone is amazing. H...

Re: Solo boost

Clean boost is what pushes MA to next level, I just don't get it why. Does it saturates power tubes earlier or it smoothes preamp gain, it really makes huge difference, especially in boost channel. :dunno MXR M-108 should be great pedal for MA effect loop, 10 band EQ, plus volume and gain control, s...

Re: Solo boost

I am ordering MXR M-108 equalizer for the effect loop, if boss sd-1 makes wonders there then equalizer would be amazing, boost and control of the tone. This boost trick completely changed my setup, I use Sd-1 in the loop all the time, for solo boost I switch to boosted channel, all the fizzines is g...

Re: MA100C issues

I uderstand it's only 2 speakers, but in my opinion 100w trough 2x12' should be more "in your face" , but maybe it's that darker sound that makes it apparently less loud. At home it is more than loud but in rehearsal room it seem to get lost in the mix with other bandmates, I was thinking about anot...

Re: MA100C issues

I think I might have some volume issues too. Am I just being too negative or 100w valve amp should blow drummer away easily but it seems MA100c is having hard time doing it. I am playing against second guitarist Behringer SS 60w amp and have to push gain channel more than 3' clock Clean headroom sho...

Yeah I was reffering controls with clock face in mind.
By the way I just found out that Marshall Guv'nor pedal works amazing with MA gain channel set to light crunch, I should record some sounds with this baby now.

Re: Disassembly and Retubing

So, Dale just changed tubes to the same brand ? I didn't know those stock tubes are winged C. Are there any differences in those marshall branded and tubes that are sold under -winged - C name?
Steve, don't tell me preamp tubes are Tung Sol cause I just installed those in my MA :bgrin
