Re: Adding Hotness and Grit

Maybe I'm in need of new tubes or a bias check then. Haven't touched the guts of it since I've had it, plus I've been having some terrible feedback issues over 4 on the MV. Bad tube maybe?

Re: Adding Hotness and Grit

Got a chance to crank my VM to 10 today and it gets very, very, very close, but its still missing that snarl. On LDR, it sounds like it'll be nailed right on the head with a clean boost as long as the boost doesn't smoothen out the tone. On HDR, it's almost there, but it just needs more sizzle and h...

Adding Hotness and Grit

I'm in the market for a good OD or boost pedal that can add more hotness and grit on top of my tone on my 2466. The best example I can think of is Angus Young's lead tone on this track: listen to the call and response part at 2:56 - that'...

Re: 2266 50W - lead guitar volume boost???

Has anyone ever had any experience with one of those "ebay attenuators" that go in the effects loop? I was thinking of getting one with a footswitch and turning it on to bring the levels down for rhythm and off for leads. Do they work well without changing the tone/gain?

Re: EL-34's in a VM!?

Treble booster? My Rangemaster clone works well with VM. any clips? I've also been looking for a pedal to give more dirt, grit, and snarl to my tone (not necesserily more gain though). My base tone is completely there, its just that nastiness that is missing. a really good example of the nastiness ...

Re: Speaker Break In Difference

Ok sounds like a plan for me. And since the music will be passing through the amp, there shouldn't be any frequencies that will damage the speakers, right?

Re: Speaker Break In Difference

Welcome to the forum rockfreak611. :Thumbs Thanks Steve :Cheers. As far as the cab goes, I think you guys have convinced me to stick with the 425B even if I hate its tone in the store. To break it in - I know that plugging an ipod directly into the cab will hurt the speakers, but if I plug my ipod ...

Speaker Break In Difference

Hi. I just bought a 2466 last Sunday (don't have a cab yet). When I tried it out, I was playing through a Mode 4 cab loaded with Vintage 30s, which souded great. However, I was interested in what it would sound like with the 425 cab, but they didn't have one. So instead they had a 2266C in the store...
