Re: EVH Brown Sound Nailed with a Vintage Modern

Hey man! It doesn't help with master on 10 when if stand by switch is engaged. Just kidding, you were just shooting video. I like what I hear but I'm not surprised. I'm convinced that you can dial any tone on VM. Well done, really. Your guitar is atractive too. Thank you for sharing... By the way, ...

EVH Brown Sound Nailed with a Vintage Modern

Hey guys, I just recorded a cover of Unchained by Van Halen using my homemade Frankenstrat replica, an EVH Flanger, and a Marshall Vintage Modern 2466. I spent a TON of time just getting the tone right, and I think I came really close! Master volume was on 10 (!!!), Detail was on 10, Body was on 6, ...

Time (Pink Floyd) Guitar Solo Cover with Vintage Modern+Fuzz

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've posted here, but I figured since this is Marshall related, you guys would enjoy it. I recorded a cover of the Time solo by Pink Floyd today (one of my favorite solos ever). All of the recording info is in the video description, but I used a 2012 Les Paul Standa...

Re: Thoughts on the newer Les Pauls?

I'm in love with my 2007 studio in worn cherry (darker than any other of these models that I've ever seen). :bgrin it's weight relieved and lighter than any other Paul I've ever played, but when comparing it to my friend's R8 from the 80s, the only difference in tone I could hear was a slight increa...

Re: Eruption Cover w/ 2466 + effects

Very well done. Do you know what your amp settings were? from what I remember: HDR presence - 5 bass - 8 mid - 7 treble - 6 Detail - 10 Body - 7 MV - 4.5 Reverb - off Hardwire OD on modded mode with volume, treble, and bass on 5, gain on 0. -- Fri Mar 04, 2011 5:06 pm -- EDIT: WATCH THIS ONE FIRST ...

Eruption Cover w/ 2466 + effects

Here's a cover of Eruption that I just recently did at a Van Halen tribute show with the School of Rock. I'm using my handmade frankenstrat replica (with Warmoth parts and a SD '78 Model Humbucker) which is running through a '74 RI MXR Phase 90, a Hardwire OD set to a slight clean boost, and a Boss ...

Re: Chris George shows me the YJM100

This amp is nothing less than a dream come true for me, and for many others I'm sure. I really hope it will not be limited to 2300 copies. The market for this amp surely is much bigger. I second that. I don't care how long I have to save up - it WILL be mine one day. This amp is too good to be true...

Re: Suggestions for a mid-life re-fresh for the VM.

I like your suggestions, but keep the dynamic ranges footswitchable and have a footswitchable volume boost and useable reverb (even on 10 its barely noticable in HDR). I always thought the mid boost just muddied up the tone, so I wouldn't care for it to be footswitchable. Oh and I'd like to see the ...

Re: Adding Hotness and Grit

Ok so I've been playing around with the VM a lot lately and I've been listening closely to both Angus's and EVH's tones, and you guys are right - the VM nails all EVH tones (other than the first album - that tone is still too fizzy and saturated for the VM to copy) and Angus's tones. However, I'm s...
