Re: New VM 2266c Owner comments and questions

I just put a pair of JJ KT66 in my 2266C and I'm digg'n them. I also changed some of the preamp tubes too. I put a JJ ECC83S high gain (it's rated 15% over stock tubes) in V1, I moved the orig V1 to V2, left V3 and out a balanced JJ ECC83S in V4, then the JJ KT66 in. I had to remove the bear trap t...

Re: 2466 Reverb intermittent

This just started happening to me also. It seems to fail "to boot" more often than not nowadays. I wouldnt think it was too much of a problem, but I really hate cycling the power on the amp this often. It may just be a one off... but the only time I ever fried a transformer occurred while I was cylc...

Re: What am I doing wrong??

This last weekend I broke down and did a complete re-tube... went out on a limb and went with JJ's for the whole shebang (and I found out that there are no metal bases... I thought these power tubes fellinto that category... still had to remove the retainers though) the mismatch between sides is les...

Re: What am I doing wrong??

I have bypassed my pedal board and gone with a 20 foot gold plated cable and it is about the same Just an FYI....theres no gold inside a Vintage Modern :Thumbs meaning those cables make no difference in tone. The integrity (or lack there of) of your input signal makes a huge difference. Gold or not...

Re: What am I doing wrong??

Ok VM connoisseurs, I am the relatively new owner of a 2466 Head and 425A Cab. I've gigged with the amp a couple of times now and am really struggling to get a full range warm tone. The amp is 4 years old and I'm wondering if it needs a service or re-valve. I'm using it in HDR mode as I really want...

Re: 2266 mod with audio clips [metroamp.com]

Very well said, and you explained exactly why some of us have been drawn to the VM. I'm not sure I could have articulated the point about the amps ability to sculpt the cabinet the way you have... great choice of words.

Re: 2266 mod with audio clips [metroamp.com]

More dumb fucks in that forum... just wait till his cab breaks in, that mod will sound like shit. Well your probably not the first... but Ive never heard Mike Fortin being refferred to as a Dumb Fuck... and actually there have been quite a few people tripping through here talking about mods and "wa...

Those Fortin mods on that thread sure turned this amp into a metal monster though... wow.

Re: Warm Heavy VM track, re done with Vocals

Thanks, I think the Metro added something to the mix... maybe too much. It is a 50 watt Plexi and I ran a timmons exotic BB through it, added the compressed tone that you either love or hate. I still may remix with a hotter VM sound, I'm really digging the rocket fuel now that Ive had some time to p...
