2266C intermittent "burbling" and hum.

I have a problem with my 2266 combo. I occasionally bring it into work, and after everyone has gone home, have a solo session where I can turn it up and have a general explore. I did this last night and left it on standby for about 20 minutes before playing. When I tried to use it, all I got was a b...

Hey angus, check out these threads on mylespaul.com. Surf around the site too. There is great info on this sort of thing. http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/pickups/19942-more-pickup-wisdom.html http://www.mylespaul.com/forums/pickups/19761-pickup-height.html Yup, I just came from there - the top thre...

Les Paul pickup adjustment - rule of thumb maximum height?

I've recently started adjusting the bridge pickup on my Les Paul and for the first time I'm getting the volume to pretty much equal that of the neck pickup. I like the sound I'm getting, but the thing is, its now about a 16th of an inch under the string (with the string held down on the last fret) a...

Re: How to use the KNOBS and PICKUP SELECTOR

K, i'm going to sound like a real noob. but I'm still not sure how to effectevly use the volume and tone knobs. Same here. :) I think its a very personal thing, your tone I mean, but there must be practicalities, on the fly adjustments and the agility to accomplish them, that any guitarist would be...

It is of course important to find a good mic position just like Surf says, but I'm not sure it alone will make it sound like you want it to. There are several ways to get the 'room' back into the sound. You can place one or two additional mics in the room as room mikes to catch the reflected sound,...

First use a mic that is made for guitar cabinets, I recommend the standard which is a shure 57. Hi Surfnorthwest - thanks for your thoughts. I'm actually using a Shure 58 I think, probably not the perfect microphone, but I suspect good enough. That's an impressive array of kit you've got by the way...

Recording my 2266C

Hi people. I recently tried to record myself playing a short piece through my Vintage Modern 2266 combo, nothing lofty just some "growly" chords with a bit of hopefully raunchy lead over a drum beat. This was with my Boss Br-600 digital recording deck. Just as a sort of sound reference for myself. T...

I like the middle position (both pickups) on my LP best. I use the two volume controls to set the mix and generally don't have to touch the tone controls. No rights or wrongs here obviously, but on a standard configuration, wouldn't turning either of your volume controls to zero stop the sound comp...

I don't think there's any right or wrong, but generally, I'd prefer to be using the 2 pick-ups rather than changing settings to mimic the other pick-up. Having said that though, I think I know what you mean, on my 2266 combo I was experimenting around with tones, and lost track of what I was doing, ...

Standby procedure

Excuse my ignorance, I've been using an AC30 for the last 28 years so I'm not really used to the whole standby/master volume thing. So, when I turn my 2266 combo on, I wait for a couple or three minutes before taking it off standby, at this point I've got my master volume at zero, but the Body and D...
