Re: Vintage Modern - Low/High range background noise

I haven't checked the valves but I don't think it's a microphonic issue. This is the effect, if I have the mastervolume at 12'o'clock and everything else at full (except presence and reverb at 0) Mid boost on, and this is with nothing plugged in. Low Dynamic Range: A little of hiss/hum completely ac...

Vintage Modern - Low/High range background noise

Hi guys, I have been away from amplifying my guitar for a while, but recently have started a classic rock practicing band (just for fun, we're not good enough to gig yet). I like using the Low Dynamic range with the Mid boost, but with the band, I think I need a bit more drive for lead guitar stuff ...

Re: "Hayelp!" 2266C problem - no sound, although still pow

Okay, so it looks like I'm going to be trying to find a tech, and giving him the following fault description: "It seems to blow my V1 ECC83 after about 15 seconds of playing." Any thoughts on what sort of work/cost I might expect? Might it be something straightforward? Forewarned is forearmed. :) ....

Re: "Hayelp!" 2266C problem - no sound, although still pow

Turn it off first! Replace V1 and push all others firmly. I think I have a problem. I replaced V1 late on Saturday night, and then tried a couple of quiet strums. Success! Then on Sunday, I switched it on for a proper play. All was fine - for about 10 seconds (about the same time as before) then no...

Re: "Hayelp!" 2266C problem - no sound, although still pow

I means there is a issue with one of your preamp tubes, easy enough to pull one and replace it. Thanks Surf - Warning, imminent daft question.... Did I understand you could (carefully) remove and fit pre-amp valves with the amp powered up? My tiny brain tells me not, but I thought I heard somebody ...

Re: "Hayelp!" 2266C problem - no sound, although still pow

I guess your V1 tube has jumped out and you need to push it back to position. Push dem all firmly! You can always plug your guitar to loop return and find out if problem really refers to the preamp. Hi, and thanks for the replies, guys. I've never messed with the loop thing... I just plugged into t...

"Hayelp!" 2266C problem - no sound, although still power

Hi guys, After a break from my amp of a couple of weeks (we had some guests and my room had to be rearranged) I plugged into my 2266C last night. After waiting the usual three or four minutes I pushed down the standby switch and started playing quietly. After about 20 seconds though the sound sudden...

Re: One big issue with the VM - volume 'boost' for solos

Hi, I have tried: Eq before amp and in loop Line Selector in loop Volume pedal before amp and in loop to be able to swap between rythm volume and solo volume. None of these alternatives is working perfectly. I'm just a bedroom player and know next to nothing about the realities of playing venues an...

RIP Mr Marshall.

Sorry if its all been said, but I seem to have completely missed this sad event. I gather he passed away last Thursday aged 88. I think that but for him, much of what we are passionate about might never have come to exist.

Re: Sonar X1, Cubase, Ableton etc, which?

I am not sure how are you going to use cond. microphone with M-Audio 2496. Is there 48V phantom? You probably need adaptors even for SM57 microphone and your guitar because 2496 has RCA inputs. [/quote] Well, I have my Line 6 UX2 for when I want to record audio from my guitar etc. This may sound da...

Re: Sonar X1, Cubase, Ableton etc, which?

How cheap? $50 ? 100? You can probably run 4 audio tracks through almost any card but I recommend to invest more in this component! Well, that's the thing, I don't really know how much a modest but useable card will be. So, my approach is I want something that can handle the basics, perfectly well ...

Re: Sonar X1, Cubase, Ableton etc, which?

sure thing! Okay, Sonar X1 Essential is got - and its looking good! Its not sounding that great though, on account of my pc's very limited on-motherboard sound capabilities. Are there cheap internal sound cards available that would cope adequately with pretty simple stuff of up to 4 or 5 tracks on ...

Thanks Frank - that sounds ideal, I will hopefully procure X1 Essential on Monday. Cheers.

Thanks for the helpful posts chaps. I'm moving towards Sonar X1 and may make a purchase on Monday. I must admit to being a bit intimidated by the 1800 page manual though. :)
