Re: I am really liking my new VM

I finally got jam with my VM tonight. The fist time I had a chance to crank it. I never really got it dialed in tonight with a tone that I really liked. I stayed mainly on the HDR setting with the mid boost activated. Most EQ knobs were set 5 (12:00) (except presence at 3), same with the detail and...

I appreciate its not a ideal solution, but if you switch to HDR, and reduce your guitar volume control, can you not get pretty close to the LDR tone you like, but at a louder volume?

Other than that.... pedals?

Re: I just found out that the valves have been replaced

Several months ago I bought a 2266 head on a well known internet based auction site. The amp was listed as in mint condition and indeed turned out to be pristine. I've been using it for several times with no issues and it never occurred to me to look at the valves (tubes for our US friends). Well, ...

Re: Combo Heartbeat? Bad Tubes?

Hey Guys, I only played a few chords, but as soon as I turned it down, there was pretty loud hum and a thump that reminded me of a heartbeat coming from the speakers. Like: Thump.....thump.....thump.....thump at regular intervals. I turned it off for about 3 minutes and fired back up and it went aw...

Re: R.I.P. Gary Moore

I never really got him. I'm a bit old school perhaps and felt his blues sometimes tended too much towards hard rock (for my taste). Having said that, I wish I had an nth of his ability, and despite what I wrote above, I recently saw a clip of him on Youtube with BB King playing 'The Thrill is Gone" ...

Re: Is the 50w and good as the 100w?

In store i tried out a 100w and really liked it. But it looks like i can only afford the 50w for now. Is it still the same beast just quieter? or is it a completely different amp? Thanks Chris Several people have stated that more clean headroom afforded by the 100w is an advantage, but it seems to ...

Re: Please Help 2266 Head Won´t power up

Even though it is brand new, something could have happened during shipping. Trust me, it left the factory in working order. These things sometimes happen. I know it can get you really angry and frustrated, but you just gotta roll with the punches. Ok, thats enough of Dr. Phil crap. Take it to a tec...

I have actually posted about this before in the following archive thread; - http://vintagemodern.informe.com/viewtopic.php?p=319&highlight=#319 I would love to read this, as I've wondered the same thing myself. That link is now dead, though - is there anywhere else where it's archived? I'm with Tub...

Re: My Vintage Modern Experience

Nobody quits working for Marshall, that would be pretty stupid plus I think the British roll out the old midevil "off with his head" penilty. We're actually rather more civilised than that. Firstly we would charge the turncoat with being a transistor user, and then he would be dunked in the village...

Would increasing the distance between your treble pickup and strings be an option?

Re: Steve D step on inside (or others)

Hey Steve is appears you actually work at Marshall; yes? Jocko, Steve is the designer of the Vintage Modern, so yes, he presumably does work at Marshall. :) Nice scans by the way - I often find myself wondering what I'd go and pick up if I had a time machine. Probably Diana Rigg for starters. Look,...

Re: VM 2266 - How to low volume step in dynamic ranges

So, the Lower Dynamic Range simply transfers that small area of clean control to a much larger area of clean control on the guitar's volume pot while still retaining the dynamic (in terms of volume and gain) relationship as per the 'old school' system. Steve, I'm one of those people that love his 2...
