Re: Tubes/Valves

Isn't a JJ EL84 factory stock anyway? At least on my C5 it definitely is a JJ. V1 is a TAD and V2 something chinese I haven't figured out yet. I played around with various tubes and even put an 50s Mullard EL84 into it but after lots of testing and playing around I put the stock tubes back in. The M...

Class 5 discontinued?

I have a question possibly only SteveD can answer:

There is a rumour on some forums that the C5 is discontinued. Is there any substance to this rumour? And if this is true, is any successor in the making?

Re: Major Hate going

I honestly don't know how you can't like this amp. Try plugging a LP into that thing and turn the volume to 8, and you will hear tone that rivals some of the best. Absolutely. That and turning down the bass knob to around 2 will make it sound glorious. That's the sound I bought it for. But how I un...

Re: Q for Steve D on C5

Well the MLP-Forum always seemed a little strange to me. That's why I'm on the LPF insted, much better place to hang out if you are really into discussing Les Pauls and amps with competent people. Actually at the LPF there is much love for the C5. There's a thread started by Elliot Easton (!) about ...

Re: The Class 5 Has Officially Been Launched

A 2 x 12 would cost more than the amp. No problem with that, I would have still bought it in a heartbeat. It's the 12" option and the look of a mini-plexy-stack that looked intriguing. I take it then, what Andertons showed back then was just a design-prototype that'll never makes it into production...

Re: The Class 5 Has Officially Been Launched

I'm a bit disappointed because I hoped there would be a 2x12 cab like the one that Andertons showed earlier this year. I don't see a real point in a 1x10 cab.

Re: Heads up for the UK, C5 01.

There is no Class 5 - 1 x 12" combo. Always 10". For those who want to play through a 12" they will need to get the head and use an extension cab that is loaded with 12" speaker/s. The first announcements from Andertons mentioned a 2x12 cab (C212 ?). Is this thing actually in the making or was this...

Sounds very interesting, I'd like to know more about it. Are these Mods complicated to do?

Re: Class 5 Basement mod

found that the bedroom mod (headphone output jack to internal speaker) attenuated too much and sounded thin and over distorted. Looking at the schematic, leaving the original 15 ohm/25 watt resistor in parallel with the speaker and replacing R50 (100 ohm/2 watt resistor) with an 8 ohm resistor shou...

Re: Bedroom volume options

For the guys who want to get more sound - higher SPLs - from their C5 or similar amps, you can rewire the headphone jack as an extension cabinet jack. Remove connections to the ring. Remove the 100R resistor and simply move the connection to the tip-contact over to the tip itself - this can be via ...

Re: Class 5 at bedroom volume secret

Kevin, do you have a lizensed builder in Germany or somebody selling and installing kits? I'd like to put London Power Scaling in my Class 5 but I haven't found a german source on your website.

Re: Who is planning to buy a Class 5 Head

Its top of my list , but i will also have a look at the new 1x12 combo. I wonder if there actually is a 1x12" combo or if that was a typo on the Andertons website. There is no mention of a 12" version anywhere else and the pictures of the back of the combo from the NAMM booth as postet on HC show t...

Re: Updated Class 5 Announced.

Hi Steve, I really love my 2061x, but I would REALLY love my 2061x with a 3-tube Plexi preamp and TMB tonestack..... a "Class 20", if you will :) Any chance of such a thing? Add power scaling feature from the recent AFD and YJM and that would be my dream amp as well. Quiet enough for my homerecordi...

Re: Updated Class 5 Announced.

The new C5 combo has a more rigid mechanical structure and includes the low power ability (bedroom mod). Simply switch to headphones but don't plug any headphones in! Are there other significant changes for the combo? I mean, if I have the bedroom-trick already soldered myself, does the C5 MKII any...
