Re: Pedal to Warm up & Smooth out the HDR Channel

+1 on running the volume high. 5 to 7 range and the highs roll off nicely. Higher then that you get the nice power tube sag which is cool if it's what you're going for. Good luck with the Blues Driver, in my case it's probably the only pedal on my board I wouldn't get rid of (I've had it longest). G...

Re: Pedal to Warm up & Smooth out the HDR Channel

I've got a BD-2, although it's not stock (guy claimed it was Keeley modded but it's not, sounds awesome though) and I use it mainly as a clean boost for my VM. I just turn the gain off and put the volume on about 2 o'clock and it gives me enough extra grind and sustain for leads. The tone control on...

Re: 2466 2x12 cabinet?

V30s are usually top dog for pure volume because they are very efficient speakers. Hard to beat. He's comparing it to a Wizard which is rated at 103, V30's are rated at 100. I've heard them side by side and the Wizard is quite a bit louder. Eminence seems to like to make their speakers louder, my g...

Re: Ok, new user - recommended setting please

Reverb - 3
Master - anywhere above 4 to about 7 (any higher and you have to adjust the EQ for the power tube sag)
Presence - 7
Bass - 4
Middle - 6.5
Treble - 6
Detail - 7
Body - 5.5
Mid Boost - Off

That's with an LP, I use that setting on both LDR and HDR and like it. Lots of depth and character

Re: Preservation of tubes

Hopefully either Santiago or SteveD will weigh in and allay the doubts. :ntworth Heh, sorry to be a Doubting Thomas on this one. It's a question I've had for a number of years (how to prolong tube life) and like I've said, I've heard any number of techs and people claiming to be authorities on the ...

Re: Preservation of tubes

Ok, so you're referring to an actual power scaling mod itself. I think the original question had to do with using the attenuator on the AFD100. If that London mod does that as well, that's a really nice by-product of the mod itself. If that's the case I don't think running the wattage low and cranki...

Re: Preservation of tubes

Power scaled down will definitely extend the output tube life (compared to higher power settings). Voltages are much lower and the output tubes do much less work. Volume setting won't make any difference per se. Shouldn't make any difference with the preamp tubes. :yea Are you sure about that? My a...

Re: Reduces the power by approximately 50% for Vm2466

I believe you can do that, but keep in mind by doing this it affects the impedence. I'm not quite sure how but it either doubles or halves it, so you need to make sure when you're plugging into a cab that you match your impedences properly

Re: I Quit

Let me just say, I am not a violent person at all. But if anyone touches my EQ they should expect to be in a fair amount of pain in short order. I think that if someone has a problem with the way your amp EQ is set it's your job to fix it if you feel it needs/warrants changing, otherwise if both sid...

Re: Preservation of tubes

I think you'll likely get a few different and conflicting responses to this, and I'm curious to hear what some of the more experienced people have to say about this because everyone seems to have a different idea of how tube wear works. All the same here's my take: I used to have a Traynor Custom 10...

Re: Unchained - Van Halen cover

Great sound! I'm having trouble getting the same "chug" sound on my VM. I recently got a 2266C (which has been great!), and I'm playing a Les Paul G0. For all my tests I've only put the master volume around 1 so that could be it. One tip from another thread was to get the master in the 7 to 10 rang...

Re: 2466 2x12 cabinet?

The Wizard/V30 match very well volume-wise, and the overall tone is warm yet detailed. Really? A buddy of mine an I tested my Wizard with his V30 in a 2x12 and found the Wizard overpowered the V30. It wasn't as extreme as other mismatches I'd seen. Maybe you've got an older/newer version of one tha...

Few things about this video: I did this awhile back around when I got the amp. It's rare I get a chance to turn it up at home (live in a townhouse, have a small child) so I was just trying to test a few things out to get a general idea ho...

Throw in some monkey's and I think you've got a suitable cover story :)
