I've never really liked the way a reverb pedal sounds out front of any amp, especially once you run any gain on the amp it gets boomy and doesn't sound good to me. I use my Hall of Fame in the loop of my vm and love the way it sounds, not sure why yours doesn't sound good in the loop.
