Re: Marshall YJM 100 settings Hendrix Blackmore

I use this guys settings as my main settings. They are Presence 6, Bass 10, Mid & Treble 5, Channels jumped and both cranked. Sometimes I back down the normal channel volume to 6 or 7 depending on what guitar I am using. The gain on the on-board booster is normally cranked when I use it. Sometimes I...

Re: YJM guitar and Amp Blues tones

John that's cool, so all the tones I post, you recognize from what you get from your rig. When are we going to enjoy some recordings of You and this rig? Al The tones are familiar to me even with your old Thomas Blug Strat. One of these days I would love to get some recording gear and make some dem...

Re: YJM guitar and Amp Blues tones

Wonderful clip as always Al. We kind of have the same rig with the guitar and amp now. It is an addictive combo. My YJM Fenders can do blues, shred and everything a great Strat can do. We play a wide variety of modern stuff at church and I use my YJM100 and Malmsteen Strats all the time. I have been...

Re: New Marshall Homepage

Its the only way they can compete with Blackstar, and you never hear anyone saying how they hate Blackstar because they are manufactured in Korea. That's because its always been the only option. As long as they keep making the top stuff in the UK I'll be happy. I agree, and those new handwired amps...

Re: New Marshall Homepage

"" Let's not judge Marshall by their website …. " real marshalls ain't made in china :) reminds me of the ol' story about the buddhists- a real one or a plastic one? anyway, my two cents worth, marshalls should only be made in england. they may go broke ... but at least they went down fighting :) m...

Re: My new YJM Strat and YJM amp

Thanks aristotle, glad you like it, Its a scalloped fret board really. John thanks for the info, I was hoping you'd talk guitars to me. Mine buzzes if I lower the action to a normal level, so I just have it a little higher and its fine. I've put D'addario 9's on it in concert pitch. Most of my guit...

Re: Why so cheap???

What happened to DSL? I owned a DSL years ago and it was expensive. The new ones are as cheap as a Peavey practice amp. The DSL 100 watt head is like $899. What gives? Made in China? Entry level? I played the DSL100H and I felt my 20th Bogner Shiva can do anything the DSL can do only, much better. ...

Re: AFD 100 - V3 problem

Thanks for a quick response, Surf! :Thumbs In this case I'll buy new 6550 valve, replace it with the original and see what happens. P.S. Is it ok that 3 valves will be original, and 1 JJ (or other manufacturer)? You do not need to use matched power tubes with the AFD100 or the YJM100. Each socket w...

Re: My new YJM Strat and YJM amp

I hate YJM and his music but man I have to admit, the YJM amp with a boost, is one of the best Marshalls I have heard in a long time. Too bad it doesn't have more built in options, channels, etc. It sounds like you completely missed the point of the YJM100. It is an old school early 70's non-master...

John, I'll post the backing track here tomorrow for you, its late and I'm just about to post "My tribute to Jasen Becker" where I've added the arpeggio section to this track, great fun! Thanks Anitoli, and you are so right!!! I'm at home with it now, and feel confident enough to let rip. Al No hurr...

Re: My new YJM Strat and YJM amp

Thanks Paul, its a great combination. Hey John, cool that you have two! I agree, they are great to play for expression. The wide vintage trem helps widen the string spacing too, but I do keep pulling the low and high E's off the board. I'm getting better at being careful though. Al You do have to b...
