Re: Speakers with the JMD

Sorry... I screwed up and posted the below in the wrong thread (intended to post in the "whether the JMD is discontinued thread). For my part, the JMD sure sounds awesome with a pair of EVM12Ls in a 2x12 cab. Peace. Mike so...I have nothing to definitively add, just some anecdotal evidence that sugg...

Re: YJM100 conlusions

My conclusions are simple: If you can set the EPA at 11 o'clock (loud, but still reasonable volume) or better, with the amp operating in 100 watt mode, then the YJM is the best amp you'll ever play! :lick me

Peace everyone. Mike

Re: Master high, level low or level high, master low. Differ

Hello. I'm going to slightly disagree with MKB on this one ---- admitting that more testing is necessary on my part. Yesterday, I did some higher volume playing where I turned the Master up to 7-8 for the session and controlled the overall volume with the preamp volume. I believe I distinctly heard ...

Re: jmd vs jvm

Hello. Here's my two cents: 1) If you are a pedal hound, go with the JVM. 2) If you want to simplify and not use separate pedals, go with the JMD. Now, I am more the latter. I've tried a couple pedals in front of the JMD and I simply think it is not designed to be a pedal platform (although others m...

Re: Hey Marshall! How about at JMP 1959 Preamp Firmware Upd

Rockdog. Did not mean to pick on preamp 7, I was just throwing that out there as most folks would not consider the Haze to be one of the legecy models of the Marshall family, right?

I guess I'm banging against a brick wall on this effort. Peace. Mike

Re: Hey Marshall! How about at JMP 1959 Preamp Firmware Upd

C'mon! 33 people have viewed this thread/poll and two people replied and only one voted at all??? :wtf

I understand I'm new to JMD-ville and likely overly optimistic, but why not try? What does it hurt? :dunno

Have a happy 4th of July to all of us yanks! Peace. Mike

Hey Marshall! How about at JMP 1959 Preamp Firmware Update?

As illustrious member MKB pointed out in another thread, all of our JMDs can receive a firmare update via midi. If you want a 1959 JMP Superlead Preamp model (say, to replace one of the Haze Preamp 7), then reply to this thread and maybe we can demonstrate a groundswell of support to push for it. Or...

Re: Let's talk about the 1974 Preamp!

This is more of a general reply than an answer to your question. I keep getting drawn back to pre-amp 8, although I think Marshall and SoftTube did an outstanding job on all of the Crunch preamps. Pre-amp 8 sounds particularly distinctive because the software somehow is able to produce an EL-84 typ...

Re: Let's talk about the 1974 Preamp!

Fly --- Preamp 8 is what I was intending to discuss in this thread. It compares very, very favorably to my YJM (in my humble opinion). However, as MKB notes in his reply, the preamp does indeed model the EL84 power tubes and it is a bit more warm/less high end cut than the YJM acordingly. However, t...

Re: Let's talk about the 1974 Preamp!

Surf: Thanks, man. I'll definitely do some more research as that helps feed the GAS and I love researching gear anyhow. Check out what I just hypothesized brother! Right now, I am using a nicely broken in pair of EVM 12L Black Labels in an Avatar oval open back 2x12. No, I'm not a Zakk Wylde nut... ...

Re: Let's talk about the 1974 Preamp!

So, I'm posting here again to just try to get some confirmation.... So when I research the 1974 model (for example on drtube.com), sources say it is a JMP variant (save for the original combos el84 tubes; not el34s). Ah ha!!!! :whoo Now I see why I was rockin' out with this preamp ---- and why it co...

Let's talk about the 1974 Preamp!

Hello Gang! Just thought I'd see if I have any takers to talk about how incredible this preamp sounds. Man, it is just a classic rock mofo, ain't it???? :yea So, I'm still in the honeymoon, but I plugged my R0 into this preamp today and was just totally nailing great classic rock tones --- think Aer...

Easy way to ID the preamp model on a preset?

Dear Gang: I'm still having a great time with my new JMD. In my eagerness, I've not written down any of my preamp numbers that I chose for my presets. Does anyone have a fool-proof means to identify which preamp you may have used when designing your preset??? I seem to recall someone saying had post...

Re: Classic metal tone

Cool! I could be wrong, but I think any strats the Maiden guys used/use currently are superstrats --- modified with a Humbucker in the bridge position. Even back on their stuff in the 80's. I think KK Downing from Priest had his strat the same-- the pre-Hammer era. Good luck and all the best. Peace.

Re: MIDI Controller foot switch for JMD:1

Thanks, Fly. That is good info. But, doesn't that then mean that the JMD can receive program change messages and control change messages at the same time (program change through the midi foot controller and control change through the supplied marshall foot controller)? If that is the case, I'm wonde...
