Loud Pops switching channels

On my 6100LM I am getting a strange occurrence. I'll do my best to describe it. Switching from channel 1 to 2 or 3 is fine - no pops. If I am on channel 2 and DONT PLAY anything thru the guitar, and switch to either 1 or 3, no pops. However, if I am on Channel 2 and PLAY SOMETHING through the guitar...

Re: 6100 FX Loop Help?

Hey guys, When going between the parallel loop and the serial loop, I hear quite a volume drop...is this normal? I have the effects knob on the front of the head at Max, but even then there is a volume drop going between the 2. The parallel loop sounds louder for sure. Even if I put it on the serial...

Re: 6100 FX Loop Help?

on the 6100 there is actually a switch next to the Series/Parallel switch called 'Loop Level" which according to the manual "Selects the general level of the effects loop (-10 or +4dB) to match processor linked to (45 & 46)"

This is independant of the trim pots on the back

Re: 6100 FX Loop Help?

Thanks guys....

I have the manual here but a bit confused. In what instance am I using the -10/+4 trim pots on the back of the amp, opposed to the effect mix knob on the front of the amp?

6100 FX Loop Help?

Hey guys, I am just running a Boss DD20 and a Line 6 MM4 Modulation modeller as my time based effects. I want to put 'em in the loop of the 6100 and that seems pretty easy to do. Obviously there is some configuration things going on here that im sure are absolutely optimal given my FX. That being sa...

Re: New 6100LM with EL34. Cabinet question....

Can anyone here comment on the play between high power/low power and the pentode/triode switch? I doubt I will ever be playing at 100 watts... so I have the option of: HIGH + Triode = 50 watts LOW + Pentode = 50 watts Both of those settings get me to the same place but do they vary in practical terms?

Re: New 6100LM with EL34. Cabinet question....

Thanks surfnorth! I figured i'd ALWAYS be playing at 50 or 25 watts. I dunno when i'd ever get into 100 watts.

New 6100LM with EL34. Cabinet question....

Hey guys! I am about to pick up a 6100LM with EL34's this evening. Regarding using it with a cabinet - I have an Avatar 2x12 that is wired for 16ohms. I think I heard on another forum that if your using the 6100LM in the other modes (50watt) that you have to put the amps impedance to 'half' of what ...

Re: Jubilee wild overtone issue? Speaker?

Also, just to be clear here talking about the volume on 10, we are talking about the overall master volume right? The Jubilee lead master I keep at 10 at all times (control levels with guitar vol knob) but like to keep the master volume around 7-8-9 depending on how adventurous I am!

Re: Jubilee wild overtone issue? Speaker?

You guys here on the Roadhouse are amazing. You really helped me through the purchase and finding the defect in the speaker. I have so many more replies from you guys here than the "marshallforum" - not a single reply there. Moving forward, I am super pumped to be a part of the bigger marshall famil...

Re: Jubilee wild overtone issue? Speaker?

From what I can read you have two choices here... 1. You have a great amp... enjoy it. Just keep the lessons here in mind the next time... 2. Go back and ask for a discount as the speaker needed replacement. Tell him that a V30 can handle a 50W amp. You shouldn't expect a full V30 in discount as yo...

Re: Jubilee wild overtone issue? Speaker?

So nothing but bullshit from the sales guy?

Im confused...I have a Class 5 and I often have the volume at 10 to push the amp as far as it can go...should I NOT be doing that? Will I blow a speaker? The impression I got was to crank this guy and let the amp overdrive and just riff!

Re: Jubilee wild overtone issue? Speaker?

Speaker was blown. a new v30 did the trick. I got the impression from the store manager that he thought I blew the speaker because I had the master volume up eight or nine. He told me to never put the master volume on 10 which makes sense... but historically isn't that what ppl do with marshalls? to...

Re: Jubilee wild overtone issue? Speaker?

Thanks Dave W... I am starting to think maybe thats why this amp was brought in? It's certainly possible. The avatar cab I have is 16ohm. This amp has options for 8 and 4 ohm only. I am still unsure if its safe to run the 16ohm avatar cab in the back? I also was curious, how do you pull the chasis o...
