in low power mode i can play the C5 combo with any cab with the half extension into the headphone socket

Give V-Picks a serious try. I've used Dunlop Tortex, Big Stubbies, Ultem, Ultex and ended up giving them all away when I switched to V-Picks a couple of years ago.
