SV20H and tubes

Anyone replace the stock EL34’S with K66’s? I assume this can be done without harming the amp.

Re: SV20

Thanks for the heads up Surf. A few of the guys on the Marshall Forum are liking it. I’ll buy new from the local GC so I can return it if not to my liking. Do you have any other suggestions?

SV20

I find myself incrementally all in on the SV. First the amp, then the Weber MiniMass 50, Now the SV212 due to arrive next week. I did not care for the SV through the 425 cab. I guess I should’ve known this from FullBend’s excellent comparison. I’m also thinking of adding a Tumnus Deluxe to the board.

Re: Technical Advice-VM and SV20

Despite my concerns about the 425A cab, I pulled the trigger on the SV20H last night. I also ordered a Weber MiniMass 50. I’ll give them a shot. If I like what I hear I’ll add the A/B/Y pedal later. As is always the case when I order something new, the current rig sounds extra good the next day. The...

Re: Technical Advice-VM and SV20

Thanks guys. Now I just have to decide on pulling the trigger on the SV and whether to go combo or head.

Technical Advice-VM and SV20

I have not given up on the idea of getting the SV20. I have a Marshall 425A 412 cab that runs mono or stereo and a 2266VM. My plan is to get an ABY switcher to toggle between amps. Am I correct that the correct set up would be to set the cab to stereo, set each amp to 8 ohms and run each amp cable i...

Sounds great. Watching the vid now has me wondering who keeps time with their foot and whether it’s the dominant or non-dominant foot.

Interesting that you mention the Hendrix stack. I found the my VM and 425A sounds more pleasing with the Strat vs the LP.

Thanks for the effort and posting. The G12C was my least liked. The G12M was most liked.

Re: SV20H Led Zep redux for Alpeggio

FullBend, Thanks for the test and review of the 425A cab with the SV. I’ve been on the fence about picking up the SV20. Adding a new cab or doing a speaker swap tips the scale against buying.

Re: How many guitars do you think needs to have?

I have 6 electrics. The SG and Gretsch have not gotten any play time in a long time. They need to go for that reason. The PS PRS 594 is a great guitar. However, the most played and the bringer of biggest smiles are the old standards: R9, Strat and Tele. I have just one acoustic, Taylor 814. Everyone...
