I like the purple because it reminds me I have such a great sounding head! It does look black in the dim light, and it's different looking.

That said, I would trade the head cabinet to someone who has a black one in a heartbeat! Original Plexi's were black! My 4x12 is black, and I just like the black and gold image of Marshall.

Will the forum designers be changing half the banner on top to be black??
Bought, sold, bought about every Marshall ever made!

I feel special with my purple 2266-head! I bought it two weeks ago and haven´t got everything together yet, but it feels right, in a strange kind of way. I got a lot of pedals that I use with my Fender Twin Reissue (Fulltone and other highend stuff) and they don´t do anything to approve my tone through my "purple" 2266-head. I want to play through my pedals, they are expensive and I look cool with a big pedalboard but....... What I´m trying to say: All you pedalgeeks, (I am one) go buy this purple MF and stop stomping around!

Hey there,
To purchase a VM in black Tolex, what would I need to do? GC where I live don't have them in stock, purple or black. Do I need to special order it from Marshall? Any info would be great. Thanks.

On the Marshall website, I only found 1 dealer in the United States (Korg USA). Can the black VM be purchased through GC by phone or do I need to order through a dealer in the UK? I'm lost. :dunno

Korg is not just a dealer they are our distributor for the States so I would think they would be your best point of contact. Try giving them a call and see what they say.

Just for clarification SteveD:

when you say the vintage modern range will be available in black, do you mean the amp head and the 425a and b's also will be available in black?

Sincerely,

If the distributors asked for it and Marshall honored their requests, it is hard to see many stocking the purple when a black is available. Or this is all just a clever trick on Steve's part telepathically knowing that I want to pick up another head as a back up, or for an aby config with low and high range. :) Know it feels like get a purple one cause in a year they will be a pain in the ass to find.

Hey lots of guys complaining that their purple VM head doesn't match their black cabs. I personally like the purple a lot and want to re-cover one of my beat up looking cabs but since the purple tolex runs $40/yard and you need 3 yards ($120) and all the other stuff like new fret ($40), piping ($20), corners ($30), rivets ($20), dremel, belt sanders, sandpaper blocks, glue supplies, mine needs new castors, you'd be up to close to $250 with shipping not counting sweat equity or dremels, belt sanders, sandpaper, glue and applicators, etc.

I can think of a lot of other things to do with that money like a backup set of tubes, another guitar (or half of one), a bunch of different pedals, a new Zoom Q3 like Erikk has to make all those cool videos, etc.

BTW, It doesn't seem to bother Robin Trower who mixed Purple Heads with Red 212 Cabs and Fawn colored 4x12 cabs on his last tour and don't think it affected the outcome either because he rocked... :rocker
