quality cover for 2266 head?

Postby MikeR » 31 Mar 2011, 19:20

Hey guys, I did a little searching for a cover for my 2266 head and found 2 companies selling on ebay.. the D2F padded cover, and a cover listed by the custom amp covers store. Any body have any experience with these? Any recommendations? The D2F runs about $50 (guess cause of the "padding") and the one by custom amp covers is $30. Tried searching the forum 'cause I'm sure this has been covered (lol) already, but i didn't see anything...Thanks for any input!

Not to sidetrack, but here's another alternative. I made myself a heavy-duty cardboard box. I sit the head in it, and just fold the top flaps under the handle to lift. This protects the knobs and bottom corners maybe better than slip covers. And it slides easier into my wagon with cardboard under the rubber legs. It won't last forever, but I've used mine > once a week for a year now, and it took some hits, but keep on truckin. Heck, we use it as the doorstop for the other loadin/out. :crazy And I can just glue on a whole new extra layer if it gets shoddy, or to change logo's.
With great distortion comes great responsibility.

well that is def some low cost ingenuity! I like it. I do however have a hard road case for it that I use when I gig. Im more just looking for a lightweight alternative that can really double as dust protection when it is idle in my home studio

Mike

I recently got covers for my 2266 and 425a from: www.ampcovers.co.uk

They are reasonably priced but are custom made with whatever colour, beading, pockets that you want on them. He posts internationally for a good price. He has outstanding feedback on his site and I can tell you the quality is fantastic. I got a cover for the head and cab in black with a dark purple beading and pockets for cables etc. Never been more pleased. Worth every penny!

D2F is outstanding, I highly recommend. Have 3 of them for different amps and cabs. They are high quality, padded and fit well. I have traveled all over the country with them and they have held up in as new condition. Great company.

Using it the cardboard box with your head as a doorstop is pretty rock n roll to me haha. :chug

I bought Marshall's own cover - New style with nylon type flexi material and gold pipping. AND, it's got Marshall on the front !
Was about £14 quid I think - very happy with it.

Another option is to do like me, marry a woman who sews and get her to make your amp covers for you!

So far I've got one for my Traynor head and one for my Blackstar head, my VM is next. Since it's a purple one she's 'threatened' to make it lavender, which I think is actually awesome. The louder and sillier the better in my book.
