I have mid boost on during high. But on low it just doesn't sound right IMO.

I agree. I keep it off in low range, i think that it kinda overkill for the overall sound of the low range when you kick it in. but in high range it usually acts as a little extra tweak of sweetness. :wink:

It just makes the tone so much more fuller on high dyn. More thickness etc. And thats what I truely wanted in tone.

This is how I use it with a H&K 4x12 Greenback Cab and mainly humbucker loaded guitars.
I also use an OCD to give a little extra for fat solos.

With single coils I usually punch in the mid boost and/or up the gain on the OCD.

Reverb 2
Master 5 +
Presence 3.5
Bass 5.25
Middle 6
Treble 4
Hi Range
Mid Boost out
Detail 7
Body 5.2

OCD:
Vol 4
Drive 3
Tone 5
Low Peak setting

My amps/cabs:
Bogner XTC100B, H&KTriampMkII, Steavens Poundcake100MkIII
Heritage 2x12 (G12M/G12H), Bogner 4x12, HK 4x12 (G12M)

My guitars:
Edwards LP (Bare Knuckle Pickups (BKP) Black Dog and VHII), MusicMan Axis (stock), PRS SE Single (BKP RebelYell, SD 59), Fender Baja Tele (stock), Gibson LP Special (BKP-P91/92), Tokai 80s Strat (BKP Apaches), Epiphone LP (BKP MiracleMan / BlackDog), Hamer Sunburst

My FX:
Too many :O)

I like the Mid boost on also, you can get a great crunch with it.

I agree with most of the settings above, the only difference is i find
for my strat i bring the Body up to 8 and detail on 7 for les paul
the oposite. But could be because i have a 1950A cab not
greenbacks, but will be getting some soon.

Here's Paul Gilbert's

Postby bluezman » 12 Apr 2008, 10:49

This comes straight from Paul:

Mid Boost button is ON
Dynamic Range button is HIGH.

BODY: 6
DETAIL: 4
TREBLE: 5.5
MIDDLE: 3.5
BASS: 7
PRESENCE: 6
MASTER VOLUME: 8
REVERB: 0

THD HotPlate sometimes (settings unknown)

* A Fulltone Soul Bender (Volume 4, Tone 10, Drive 3.5) for a song like "I Cannot Tell a Lie"

* A Fulltone OCD (Volume 4, Tone 6, Drive 6, switch HP) for a song like "Eudaimonia Overture".

* He also uses an Xotic Effects AC Booster on some of the songs.

SteveD I read a few months ago your settings and I think you
posted Slash's, could you post yours again ?

Loving your amp even though I have some rattle in the combo.

Which of Steve's settings are you looking for? If it's the JTM settings they went something like this:

Dime the tones and Master volume. Detail between 2-4 o'clock and Body between 1-3 o'clock. Awesome settings and it is the bassis for my sound.

SteveD wrote that this is Slash's settings on the Guitar World dvd I think...

2466 with 425A.

Guitar straight in.

High dynamic range
Mid Boost out
Body = 9 o'clock
Detail = 12:30
Treble = Noon
Middle = 2 o'clock
Bass = 1:30
Presence = Just before Noon
Master Vol = 9 o'clock
Reverb = off

It would be nice to see the settings he uses live.

I've tried many times having the mid boost on but I turn it off after a couple of seconds... I just can't take how it takes away the Strat single coil tone.
