I just made a change to my favorite settings now, last night i started experimenting
with the mid boost, and backed off the mid eq and man it really sounds great now!!

the mid boost is great, just back off on the eq a little, and the bass back one point.

* new changes

Okay my turn:
(All values are absolute, not clock setting)
Reverb: 0 - 9 (depending on song)
Master Volume: 4 - 8 (depending on room)
Presence: 4.9
Bass: 4
Middle: 4
Treble: 6
Dynamic Range: High
Mid Boost: (depends on song)
Detail: 4
Body: 5.9

Beatles / Stones / Animals, Vox/Alnico type stuff: Mid boost off, reverb up a bit, then the rest is guitar - Tone 100%, volume 40%, bridge pickup
CCR - Mid off, reverb it a bit - Guitar Tone 100%, volume (wherever), middle pickup
Hendrix - Mid boost on, reverb it a tiny bit - Guitar Tone 100%, volume 70%, neck pickup
Cream / etc - Mid boost on, reverb off - Guitar Tone 70%, volume 80%, neck pickup
Kossoff - Mid on, reverb off - Guitar Tone 100%, volume 90%, bridge pickup
Gibbons - Mid on, reverb off - Guitar Tone 100%, volume 75%, bridge or middle pickup
etc.

If I need "more" for a solo or what have you, it's so easy to just whack the volume on the guitar up, switch pickups, and get more drive, volume, etc. while not fucking up my tone, then back it off again as I go back to chording. The only time I need to touch the amp now is if I want to punch the mid-boost, which is only something I'd do between songs depending on what's coming up next anyway.

The range of sounds this thing makes drops my jaw. Every so often I hit something, a grumbly undertone, a wood sound, *something* I've never heard before when playing these tunes that makes me turn and look at the amp and smile...

Im still playing with this amp (2266c) so not had time to find any real settings I'm sticking too yet, but for the first time I am really noticing the differences in the tones of the different guitars and pick-ups... :D

Not really sticky worthy, but lately I've been playing my VM (2466) comletely clean. Low dynamic, mid boost off, body & detail set to 12:00 or less, master about 11:00.
I eq & boost it a bit with my RC Booster & have my Carbon Copy set to a slight background echo. Oh, and reverb about 11:00 & I'm using my Strat (neck & neck/middle positions).

I bought this amp to replace my Twin Reverb because I was tired of playing clean all the time, I really never expected it to have such a huge beautiful clean tone.

I've now had this amp for almost a year & it continues to surprise & amaze me!!

Jst found that with these settings, I can get a great lead tone by maxing the level on the RC Booster & turning on the mid boost. I'm thinking of getting an MXR line driver/booster ( to put after the RC for leads. Of course I will still have to walk over to the amp and push the mid boost button for solos. :x

Made this post in another thread but I guess it belongs here too...

I have the combo and play a relatively warm guitar w/humbuckers that aren't super-hot.

I like just enough gain to make pinch and tapped harmonics jump out but still have great clarity and definition for riffing and rhythm work.

On the high range setting I've found that I need to keep the body low... and the mid-boost feature can help fill out the highs and even add a touch of detail to the lows. 90% of the time I play with the mid-boost on but turn it off from time to time for a slightly more vintage vibe.

I've also found that using the treble for clarity and keeping the presence low gives me detail w/o harshness.

As with a lot of you guys, I use my guitar volume to clean things up where needed.

high range
mid-boost on
body 2
detail 6.5
treble 9
middle 9
bass 3
presence 3
master 1 (this is the "at home" setting)

The treble and middle settings may seem extreme, but they work well given the low presence. They also help pop the harmonics w/o having to use excessive gain.

Also, I've found that in the high range, the detail is the most sensitive setting on the amp. It's really easy to go overboard and wind up a little too compressed.

Again, this is the combo and you may need to tweak here and there depending on your pickups but for me, this setting is tone heaven :)
