Running the VM in stereo

Postby Ghostrider » 30 Mar 2010, 08:41

Can someone explain to me how to correctly run my VM in stereo. I have two 2466 heads and two 425 cabinets. When I play currently I set a half-stack on each side of the stage and have a ABY box.

I really only need the second head as a backup. I also have another 16ohm cabinet but it only has one input for mono and one output for another cab. I don't know the advantage of running in stereo but would like to try it. It all is too confusing to me.

Yeah!

Try one dry and the other with 30ms of delay or a small amount of chorus/flanger effect.
Get your signal going into VM 1's and then put the signal coming from Send (VM1) going to VM 2's return.

or set one VM in low range with detail maxed and the other in high range with the detail rolled down a bit. put either one mid boost in and the other midboost out!

or both in high range one with midboost in and the other with it out then tailor the preamps to suit each one!

experiment with either setup, mainly just cos i would love to know how that would sound!

basically in stereo the idea is to have two differently voiced amps! if they're set the same the will both take up the same frequencies and wont be very effective where as if they're set differently and contrast to each other then you will fill out alot more of the frequency spectrum and get a big fat wide sound!
Everybody seems to think i'm lazy.
I dont mind...I think they're crazy!

Joe Bonamassa/Eric Johnson style -

Rig 1: Slightly less gain with pronounced mids and reverb

Rig 2: More gain with extended bottoms and tops with delay (either slap back or 300 milliseconds)

So many combinations :yea
