Need a little help on this one

Postby surfnorthwest » 05 Sep 2008, 21:20

As most of you know many of my songs go back to my influences of Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons. I just started recording on my ninth CD named "Look to the Sky" but would like to get some opinions on what genre to call this music. Reason being is many people say, ya Surf that is New Age......bullshit/

Well maybe it is but I hate that term "new age". So if anyone would be kind enough to give me suggestion on what genre you would call it and opinions on the CD cover I appreciate it. Oh yes, give to first track I recorded a listen....all done with a VM and DSL

Here is the song
Dusk.mp3

Here is a shot of the CD cover

I think the cover is great. Beautiful picture. You're music is very cinematic. I wouldn't call it "new age", Yanni & John Tesh can have that label.

That clip has a certain head space. The things that came to my mind were: Queensryche, Brian Eno, and Vangelis (ala the Bladerunner soundtrack). It's rock with ambiance.
The goal is soul. May the Force be with you.

I assume all the songs are instrumentals? I think "instrumental rock" is a good label. "Ambient rock" may be another to consider.
