New song recorded with new Metro Plexi

Postby surfnorthwest » 11 Jan 2009, 13:20

Well this will give you perhaps a better demo the Plexi. Keep in mind I never pushed the amp in this song. All the guitar tones were with the Plexi except the wah lead which is later in the song made using the 2466.

The song also has some sax work,Blues Harp and some Hammond B3 in it. The songs is called F5

Guitar - Fender Strat
Bass - Carvin ICON5
Drums - DOD
Keys - Hammond B3
Sax - Roland
Blues Harp - Roland
Amp - Metro Plexi - NO EFFECTS
Lead GTR Amp - 2466 - OCD -Chorus - Fulltone Wah - CPR-EQ

Sounds great! I think I heard a little "Jet City Woman" in the intro for a split second there. That Metro sounds good. Once I unload some stuff I'm going to be in the market for another amp and would like to pick up some sort of vintage clone.

hehe, you did. I always do the drum and bass tracks first and didn't know what to do with my bass when the drums were shuffeling at the beginning so I Jet City Woman'd it. After playing that rolling open A I did a little break down on my bass to kick it into the grove. Perhaps I shouldn't have made it so obvious with the harmonics on the guitar

Thanks Faze, yes the B3 always has a place in music and it is fun to play it.

Hey that sounds great surf!! What type effects were you using? That has a really bright jangly overdrive tone that I love! Would go perfectly with my VM 2466 in stereo! Woo Hoo! Wah sounds fantastic too with the 2466. Which Plexi model is that?

Geez I have to fix that link the mix sounds like ass.... that was a rough copy of that song I never updated it here.

This was indeed the Metro playing rythem with the VM playing lead after the sax part. The first leads were done by the Metro. The effects on the VM were OCD - Digitech Chorus - Fulltone Wah - CPR, the Metro was nothing.

Check out the lead with the VM on this song at 5:14, kind of the same thing running the overdrive hard in LDR with a chorus. This is one of my Pink Floydish songs....

Hey you mean that beginning part where the Metro is screaming is with no pedals?! That's the sound I'm after! What volume level did you have it at? That second LDR part sounds cool as heck! It reminds me more Bowie's late stuff more than Floyds.

No, when the bass is doing the "Jet City Woman" thing that little into lead was the VM not the Metro. I found the Metro demo from a long time ago here

Hey that other clip sounds great at about 6:18 with the OCD! I'd like to hear it with that on the neck pickup on your new Strat. I'm surprised those amps have that much balls clean! I thought they were mostly clean till 10 unless you used a fuzz, etc. I need to try one of those babies out and run it through the ropes with my rig. Thanks surf! Great job!
