Hey Bluesburst , used the VM with a '62 RI Strat , i'm not completely satisfied with the tone on that track , but it's the first time I've used it to record ( i've only had the amp 1 week now), so I just need to spend a little time finding out it's idiosyncrasies etc .

Damn... if that what you can do with teh VM before working out it's idiosyncrasies, then I'm looking forward to what you can do when you're comfortable with the amp :dance

Well I guess I will post my take. This is the cut that I will put on my CD.I welcome others to try this also so its not like this thread is closed, if you want to simply take your time and since I don't worry about making money off music any of you are free to use the song as you wish.

If you guys liked doing this I will post something new at least once a month, perhaps if anything it will be good pratice for recording. I love hearing all the different styles from the players here. :beerme

Here is another really good version of the song, this one has a friend of mine from North Carolina on guitar who currently plays in a KISS tibute band. I think his leads came out very good.

Hey surf, since I'm having a blast with Cakewalk I decided to finally try and do a take on your song. Not perfect, but I like it so far. It was clipping alittle and thought it was the actual mic but I just had some of the tracks alittle too loud.

This also was done with the LP, so that 15 sec. sustain is all guitar/amp. No sustainer there.

Nice job. I have to wonder why you are having a clipping issue. You don't need to put the track in at max input volume as you can use the trim function to increase if necessary. Also you might try to add a limiter or compression to the track. What I would do is the following.

1. Solo the track and get the volume right, use a limiter or compressor, both came with Cakewalk
2. Bounce that track to another empty track. This will give you a much bigger sound without clipping. Pan one hard left.
3. Add a post eq to the track and adjust to flavor.

Thanks for giving it a try, it is fun anyways.

Oh I got rid of the clipping, maybe I uploaded the one with clipping? Did the track I uploaded clip?

EDIT: sorry fixed the clipping problem after I uplaoded to soundcloud I think.
