Gold Tone products

Postby jab » 17 Dec 2010, 15:28

I've been looking for resonator/dobro instrument lately and came across a Florida company http://www.goldtone.com. Their resonator's are very highly rated as best value instruments, so I started looking at their product line and they've got acoustic and electric crazy items like cello banjos, banjo ukulele's, mando banjo's, guitar mandolins, banjitars (combo of a guitar/banjo), banjo bass, mando bass, etc. Some of these instruments look extremely cool and appear to be of some good quality. Fairly long list of professionals using these. I did buy the PBS square neck Resonator. I never played one before but what the hell, I've always loved the sound of those things.
JMD:1 50W head (in the past: Marshall VM 2266/DSL 50/Mesa Boogie Stiletto/Dual Rec/Electra Dyne/Vox Night Train), Mesa Boogie V-30 Roadster cabs, Barber Tone Press, Eventide Timefactor, Nebula Mojohand Phaser, Xotic RC, Rocktron Talkbox, Guitars (1958 Historic Reissue Wildwood Spec LP, Custom Shop ES-335, Custom Shop LP Jr., Amer Deluxe Tele, '57 Reissue Strat, HSS Strat, Martin DC-16RGTE, Taylor 355CE 12 string, Godin A8 & Kentucky KM-1000 mandolins, Pono ukulele, Gold Tone PBS Resonator).

So, how is it? I have heard good things about them, looked at their resonators and lap steels a few times.

That guitar mandolin would be a lot of fun, but I can't see using it for more than maybe a song or two.
