My new amp is going to be built

Postby bluesbrother » 06 Oct 2008, 11:21

Hi,
After i sold my marshall 1974X , i was looking for a fender but i have to admit
i am hooked to the way a marshall works and sounds. This was also my first
4x12 and i want nothing else. The output of my 50 (37 watt rms) vintage modern
is just perfect. The only amp that gives me the shivers for a pushed bluessound is
a JTM 45.The VM is probably more versatile but this blues drive is such a great
one trick pony that i can not resist it...
People who buy a jtm 45 put KT66 valves in it and have some mods.
The metropoulus amps are to expensive for me.So i find a dutch company
www.vernetamps.com that is going to built a FLV45 , this is a HANDWIRED
JTM 45 with a GZ34 rectifier and 2 KT66.There will a tubebuffered FX-loop
installed and a PPMIV.The amp will be built in a larger case (same size vintage modern)
and the same black/purple color as the vintage modern.I will have the two headsplaced
on the 425A cab. This is going to be one big purple MONSTER.

This is something of his work , it is not finished(lose wires) as you can see.
In december it will probably be ready, if you are interested i will show some pics then....
I really have it built the way i wanted so no compromises, gush it is so exciting!!! :D :D :D

Sounds very cool. Since the VM is based on the JTM45 platform with many of the mods you are having done I'm very interested in how the two compare sonically.

I definately will be looking forward to your tone comparison report. The VM is the closest I will probably ever come to a real JTM45 or Plexi, so your experiances will be priceless to me. Have fun sir. :)

Hi,
I will show pictures of the building process.
With the features it is just as modern as the vintage modern.
My purpose with this amp is to use it for a bluesbreaker(beano) type
of tone. With lesser gain than high range and a tube rectifier i want a more
bluesier type of sound. With the VM i also can get this sound(well almost) on low range( see
the settings i posted in previous topics) but then i changed the settings dramatically so i can not
go back to high range without changing every knob. The vintage modern is a amazing amp that
can do it all.I never had a connection with a amp before that is why i had 4 different amps a year.
I told steve i will never ever sell this amp and that is why my new amp will stand proud in the same
size and color on top of the vintage modern.
I am a bluesplayer that also like classic rock or hard rock.I think when you are not really much into
blues i guess a jtm 45 is probably not worth looking at for a vintage modern user....i guess
good luck!!! :D
