Ordered a Class 5 Today

Postby danottoman » 20 Mar 2010, 18:42

Ordered one today from Sweetwater. I knew that they were backordered, but right after ordering online I received a phone call from a sales engineer telling me that they will be receiving 50 units on April 1st and that I was #30 on the wait list. Should go by relatively quick I hope.

Thanks Surfnorthwest. I am really hoping that this batch of amps has some sort of fix for the rattles. Am I right in assuming that if there is no heat shield then I have the updated model? I'll let everyone know when it arrives.

So one has to think that maybe Marshall has worked out a final solution for the problems that many of the early Class 5 amps had. Knowing Sweetwater they probably held off there orders until they were confident the issue had been addressed. This still would not sway me away from making sure my sales engineer took mine out of the box and gave it a go.

I received my C5 from Sweetwater today (5/7) and it really is a cool little amp. Have not really had a chance to crank it yet, but the semi clean tones are to die for. One dissapointing fact however is that it has what appears to be a chassis rattle when I play anything in A. I don't think it is related to the tubes though cause it does not come out of the speaker. It is just dissapointing because it was on backorder for 2 months and the rattling issue still is not resolved. FWIW it did come with the 3 piece back.

I picked up a class 5 the other day and have not noticed any rattle yet. Mine does have the 3 piece back also, maybe my ears are just shot? Hope you get yours figured out.

Make sure all the screws are tightened. Mine had a little rattle that went away when I did that.
