I too tried a Class 5 today

Postby TonyC » 29 Dec 2009, 09:54

Went into the local shop and there it was... I couldn't resist of course. Tried it with a Les Paul, a Tele and a couple of Strats, and it was honey with each and one of them. I dimed every knob on the amp and played around with the knobs on the guitars instead and I had total control over the tone doing that. This amp is a must have! Total and immediate satisfaction.

Unfortunately it had quite some rattling issues, otherwise I would have bought it on the spot. I hope Marshall solves this issue soon because I want that amp badly.

Man I hope there comes a day when I can read a postive review of the Class 5 without reading the word "rattle". It is like being on a date with a sexy woman only to discover she has a dick.

You have a way of putting things Surf :bgrin

I'm sure the world "rattle" will disappear from the reviews. This amp is too good to let it fail because of that. It must be solved and I have high hopes :Thumbs

Yes I agree with you Tony, probably nobody more pissed about this than Steve. Fact is here in the US people don't know about this issue as these amps have not really hit the market yet. We probably get a little fatigued of the issue as we are seeing many of the posts. Have to keep in mind that the amp just now rolled out and at it's price will probaly be around for awhile.

I'm in the States and I'm waiting for my third one to come in (last two had rattle problems.) I was told that the delivery is "unknown" (not sure what this means), but the store let me keep the "second" one until the the third one comes in. I will be so bummed if it too has a rattle. I read one post where a guy tried seven of them and they all had rattles, talk about a bummer. Marshall has a great opportunity to do something great, I'm hoping they get this dialed in before people start looking elsewhere.

Hi all,
agreed, this is too good an amp to let it fail. Come on Marshall, listen to your user base here.

Don't worry, Marshall listen to their user base. Steve has said they are aware of the issue and are working on it.
I have a class 5 and so far no rattles. Mine is one of the first ones that came out in the UK and it just sings!
I'll give you everything but my guitar and my car.....

I got mine yesterday and so far no rattles. I will be running it hard again today as some have said the rattle sets in after a few days.

Mine is green, but the picture colour seems a little lighter than in hand.

For those of you looking for a positive review, so far I have had this thing singing like I heard it was supposed to. The volume at 5-6 is best, for my ears, anything louder and it loses definition and does not get much louder. I tried the tone controls in all configurations and so far I like the bass at 4-5, mids at 10 and treble at 6-7. When I picked it up at the store yesterday, we had a go at it to see if it would rattle, and so far, no rattle. I love the amp, and so did the guys at the store, but mine is the only one that was ordered.
